I'm suspecting Mcdonalds…the only time in the last month I've handed my card to someone is the couple of times I went to mcdonalds for breakfast…I'm guessing the ape who took my card scanned it or something.

where i am its almost imposible to find places that dont have contactless and swiping has been phased out like more than 10 years ago.
it is not possible to swipe cards in this country unless its a foreign card. -

those RFID chips don't really power themselves; they receive a signal from the payment terminal and use the power from that signal to generate and send data back. you'd need to send enough power through the antenna to have the card send back a signal powerful enough for it to pick up.
it's been demonstrated, ie. it's definitely possible but I imagine there's an upper limit on distance where if you send too much power to the RFID chip it'll fuck either the chip or the antenna up
