Russian sausage tycoon Pavel Antov has been found dead at an Indian hotel, two days after a friend died during the same trip.
They were visiting the eastern state of Odisha and the millionaire, who was also a local politician, had just celebrated his birthday at the hotel.
Antov was a well known figure in the city of Vladimir, east of Moscow.
Last summer he denied criticising Russia's war in Ukraine after a message appeared on his WhatsApp account.
The millionaire's death is the latest in a series of unexplained deaths involving Russian tycoons since the start of the Russian invasion, many of whom have openly criticised the war.
Reports in Russian media said Mr Antov, 65, had fallen from a window at the hotel in the city of Rayagada on Sunday. Another member of his four-strong Russian group, Vladimir Budanov, died at the hotel on Friday.
Superintendent Vivekananda Sharma of Odisha police said Mr Budanov was found to have suffered a stroke while his friend "was depressed after his death and he too died". The Russian consul in Kolkata, Alexei Idamkin, told the Tass news agency that police did not see a "criminal element in these tragic events".

this was a thing babck in the 90s when the oligarchs were fighting amongst themselves and then later in the 2000s when Putin gave them the option of falling in line, jail, exile or window (lol)
I imagine it happened a lot historically too but haven't really looked into it. it's a tradition!
adorable

Magnesium airburst flares, not really sure what they're used for. illumination makes sense but I've seen them fired off in daylight too; they probably make thermals and targeting systems useless for a while

its a shame belarusian are eastern european if they were in western europe the belarusian irish alliance would have liberated northern ireland 100 years ago using hyperadvanced potato battery technology (they both provide the potatoes, the irish get drunk and provide the battery)

I love Luka, he's never not funny
Bakhmut is fucked; everyone assumed Wagner would've taken it weeks ago but it seems that the AFU is sucking up forces from all over the front to pour in there along with the Baltic mercs. All of the videos I've seen lately have been rubble, body bags and trenches littered with corpses.
Wagner's still making slow progress, Russian military's not fighting directly but operating the artillery fire support, rumour is they're waiting for the ground to freeze before moving major forces around. There will be a major offensive sometime in the next three months or so, but everyone's gambling on when and where.
My guess is they'll wait until Bakhmut's cleared, or if Wagner's moving too slowly they'll start using mobiks to reinforce them, and once the front is broken they'll start clearing the northern Donbass and launch a major attack from Belarus - not to try to take Kiev, but to sweep through the plains to the west and close the Polish border and stop the flow of weapons and soldiers. NATO absolutely can't allow that though so things will get really unpredictable
