He had to hitchhike over 10 miles in -40F temps to get to the library so he could post. He lived in Alaska. One day, he got caught in a frigid blizzard and literally froze several of his fingers and toes off, but still made it to the library to post. Then he went blind, and he got dementia, and his knife business went kaput so he gave all his stock away for free. He lived in a little shack with no electricity or running water.
