The right to self determination is internationally protected An overthrown democratically elected government is not legitimate These are 2 different things and I've already gone over them
Those were sham elections plus no country in world would let a region or state secede without a fight even if they wanted to. Neither would russia like with chenya.

Yeah those commies really fucked the entire area up. Stalin loved moving people around, example Moldova. He sent a bunch east and sent Russians and Ukrainians there. They did that shit everywhere they controlled.
Yeah I think a lot of it was meant as an attempt to 'ethnically integrate' the states to make the Union more durable but seems to have had the opposite effect more often than not.
My favourite is the 'J'ewish Autonomous Oblast' which I have to assume was a joke; an isolated stretch in on the border with China where they could self-gulag. With a rainbow flag.

The 2014 'revolution' was a foreign-instigated colour revolution that deposed a legitimate government, and the Eastern regions refused to accept it as legitimate because it wasn't. The Ukrainian government, at the behest and backing of Western powers, began what it called an Anti Terrorist Operation and tried for 8 years to bomb them into submission, and it was only when they were preparing a new offensive and openly threatening to source nuclear weapons that Russia intervened.

Sham elections or not the entire area chose to break away from Ukraine years ago, and yes no country would but it's still a human right. Ukraine is particularly egregious for this as their laws say that for a breakaway region to be recognised the entire country must agree which no country ever would, by your own words, they're violating basic human rights by having such laws.
Fact is large empires like Russia and the US decide what small countries do. They ignore the UN and any stupid law they want. They will bomb you for freedom or to steal your land.
You may not like it but in the real world might makes right.

that was before the invasion. now they may not have chosen to as indicated by vsirous polls and the elecrions were sham or controlled by putin. either way no reason any refion should be able to just leave in any country and no country would sllow it including russia again look at vhechnya at one point they also wanted to be separate.
Coz the deal is fair and simple: the West offers aid while Ukrainians fight. And so far it has worked excellently - Mongols are losing. Ha! Do you remember their plans for the war?? Conquer Ukraine in 3 days and hold a victory parade in Kiev. And how did it finish???? :):):)

1. lol 2. their goals were clearly outlined as 'demilitarisation', 'denazification' and protection of the LDNR, not 'take kiev in 3 days'
