I just discovered I'll be getting an 8.7% increase in my VA benefits starting in January of 2023. It's only about $290 per month. But that along with my annuity puts at over $5000 per month retirement. I can take early Social Security in 2024 and be at $6500 per month for life or wait until 2029 and be at around $7300.
I don't think I'm going to wait. I mean everything I own is paid for other than the new HVAC system I financed this summer for 15 years at about $138 per month. So I figure I'll probably just take the extra $1500 in 2024 and enjoy the extra money sooner. By the time I'm 69 I'll probably be so bored with earth money won't even be entertaining.

your not getting any raise.
thats just compensation for the lost of buying power due to inflation, and actually lower than the rate of inflation in the US.

imagine retiring off a MONTHLY income instead of a life savings that you draw an "income" expense from
sheeeesh I mean hey as long as the bills are paid but even 2x having to live in a budget would suck because that means you have no savings worth mentioning, which at your age is not ideal.
I know old farmers with a million bucks in the bank and they are "broke" but live so simply that they couldn't spend all that if they tried.
The most expensive things they buy are a $40,000 tractor or a trip to mexico or something and that's another year for them.

Universal Basic Income is coming, and all your money will worthless. Cashless society, electronic deposits, you will own nothing, and you won't be able to possess any more wealth than the assigned basic allowance. Spend it now, while you still can, because these freaks are coming for everything you have.
