   My hometown was the first to install fiber optic in the USA in 1985 however they replaced it with coax because of problems with hardware not being advanced enough to work properly that far back or cost to much to replace out issues.
   
   I believe Walter Kronkite did a special on it. it was very advance futuristic shit back then. "Splice" like using a fraction of the glass pipeline to attach to another or just the general cutting and fixturing it to the hardware itself?
