I remember they banned flying from Ireland without a "good reason" - there were guards stopping people at the entrance to Dublin Airport, so I flew from Belfast instead.
Dublin was locked down, in Belfast people weren't even wearing masks. The UK got vaccines shortly before the ROI did, so everyone in Norn Iron had had their clot-shots, and there was a real feel good factor in Belfast - back then we all thought the vaccines worked. -
