Folx I believe in the voice of democracy and the people and if they want to join Russia and vote democratically to do so whom are we to stop them?

Despite the crack down on democracy by the fascist government of Ukraine "banning" regional referendums, they will go ahead as planned and the peoples voice will be heard and recognized internationally. I for one look forward to seeing democracy in action and applaud either outcome

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/9/20/russia-unfolds-annexation-plan-for-ukraine

Simultaneous votes in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions have been scheduled from September 23 to September 27. In a speech on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that Moscow would recognize the results.

Just as it did with the Crimean annexation in 2014, Russia is making a point of appearing not to be involved. It was local Ukrainian politicians supported by the Russian military who announced the so-called "referendums." As in the case of Crimea eight years ago, the vote was brought forward from a previously suggested date — that of November 4. Regional referendums are banned in Ukraine. Like in Crimea, there will be no independent election monitoring.

Sorry, plebes, you don't get to "choose" to "voluntarily join" Russia. Surrender is not an option.

THE ELECTION IS TODAY FOLX WHAT WILL THE PEOPLE DECIDE???

I HOPE IT GOES 50/50 AND FORMER NEIGHBORS BECOME ENEMIES OH MAN JUST IMAGINE "gear up lads, that farm house down the street will be full of RUSSIANS/UKRANIANS unless we take it first!"

I think Putlers plan is by calling democratic elections to sew chaos because we all know democracy is not stable I mean, just look at iraq and afghanistan and how well it worked for them.

    Get out that vote!

You know what's funny? Poland is talking about using this as cover to run their own referendum in the west, specifically for the area around Lviv to join Poland. If they do they have a pretty good chance of succeeding considering the difference in living conditions between Ukraine and Poland, and it'll be fun to see the media try to paint the Polish one as legitimate but the Russian one illegitimate

This is so once they put this fake referendum is in place any attacks on the regions concerned will be deemed a direct attack on Russian territory and give Putin the go ahead to NUKE THE FUCKING PLACE...like he threatened he would if Russia was attacked.

You heard it here first folks.

if they use nuclear weapons it'll be on NATO, not on the Ukraine.

they've used conventional weapons to hit weapons in Kiev and Lvov, so why wouldn't they be able to destroy political and command centres there?

why do you think they've chosen not to?

what benefit do you think there is to using nuclear weapons on the Ukraine?

why do you think Russia is drawing 300,000 soldiers from reserves to fight in the Ukraine when they have a standing army of around one million?

Wiping out the president/commanders and psychologically significant center of power would result in the rest of Ukraine surrendering.

...similar to how it worked with Japan.

...a good commander has more than one plan on the go...

    Plan A
    Plan B
    Plan C

    etc etc.

Like I said, they could do it with conventional weapons.

Why do you think they choose not to?

Well they already tried and failed didn't they...that was also thousands of lives and millions/billions of equipment ago...and they aren't doing any better conventionally.

Again...pretty much the same decision the USA made, save lives and end the war quickly...it worked for the USA.

"In order to avoid such a high casualty rate, Truman decided–over the moral reservations of Secretary of War Henry Stimson, General Dwight Eisenhower and a number of the Manhattan Project scientists–to use the atomic bomb in the hopes of bringing the war to a quick end."

Okay but the elections seem legit to me. What's wrong if they join Russia? It should be up to them, not us
