VR is best used as a simulation for training in high risk or high cost real world activities. But you are not going to get that level of sophistication from consumer electronics.
To use VR as entertainment or as a replacement for real world experiences such as "world travel" is only further isolating yourself from society. Many of the issues we face in the 21st century as both individuals and collectively are a direct result of a gradual systematic separation of individuals from one another and from society. -

Well there is your mistake, it doesn't have to be a replacement for anything! it is an addition to/compliment to etc.
No one can reasonably travel the world and visit hundreds of cities and countries and still maintain a reasonable bank balance/work balance unless they are stupidly rich or travel is their job...even then traveling all the time is much more isolating than sitting at home and spending an hour in Paris...(VR sex reference)
Also as mentioned it's a great tool for learning Astronomy etc...learning your way around the sky from the comfort of your armchair rather than having to stand in a field. -

You can't really do any of what you mentioned other than the training aid aspect ("learning Astronomy etc") I've already covered.

No, I just don't believe in religion of any sort. Religion is nothing more than a way for men to control others. I have an eclectic "spiritual" belief system unique to me but with many aspects rooted in commonly held values.
