Is supposed to be coming out in October (I think)...price tag is rumored to be up to $1500.

I'll probably get one eventually..though I'll try and pick up a used one after some idiot who can't really afford it buys one then sells it on offerup so he can pay his rent.

Anyone else thinking about getting one?

If you had a life you would not be interested in this at your age.

Quite the contrary. Many non VRers think it's all about gaming..it's not.

Most of my VR use is practical...using google Earth VR to virtually visit places of interest around the world or using it as a mapping service to check out somewhere you are going to go etc from VR street view), keeping in touch with loved ones in other countries...my niece back in England for example...and of course using virtual planetarium software in conjunction with my Astronomy activities to map out observing schedules etc.

...not to mention simply watching 3D movies etc.

"No life" would be more akin to spending your free time on a 2D forum such as NIS when you could instead be traveling to the far corners of the world in VR, talking to friends and family across the world or watching 1st person 3D videos on how to make dumplings or fix your Fiat 105.

Sitting in a chair with a box on your head, what a rich fulfilling life.

Well you don't do it 24/7...and you don't sit...it's interactive, you stand up and move around. Unlike again...spending your free time on NIS

It's a bit moronic to talk about something you've not really had any/much experience with...it's kind of like someone who has never used the internet dissing the internet when that first started to be a thing

Yeah, I get it i know how it works. I have an Oculus 2 in the house my son bought. It's fun briefly as a novelty. But it is not traveling the world.

It's just a computer with better visuals and more interaction...you're using it wrong if you think it's just a novelty...again much like a lot of people thought home computers and the internet was "just a novelty"

VR is just another way to access everything you are already doing online but with a better visual experience and more interaction.

And just like a computer in the early days it is a novelty not an indispensable tool that performs a unique role.

computers in the early days were only a novelty to those who didn't use them to their full potential...same with people now who try VR for 5 mins and dismiss it.

A decent VR headset today is just as capable as your desktop PC...if not moreso.

Download Virtual desktop connect it over wifi to your main PC...and you have access to everything your PC can do in a more mobile and interactive solution than sitting at a desk looking at a 2D screen.

    Stay in school gramps.

That's true, some people are weak stomached when it comes to VR, fortunately I'm not one of them. The latest ones coming out there somewhat address this with much better refersh rates and lens types etc...I expect millenials will still have issues though.
