Battery Battery Stats helps indentify battery draining apps and processes as well as keeps detailed stats for analysis and troubleshooting.

Greenify hibernates/closes and prevents apps from running in the background. This prevents those apps from using data and occupying RAM.

Naptime alters Android's doze feature to be more aggressive. This, too, will save battery in some of the same ways as Greenify by hibernating background processes, but goes further by reducing data usage by system apps by only allowing them to wake at certain intervals. There are other aggressive doze alternatives, but I use Naptime because the developer also built the custom kernel and kernel manager that I use which even further reduce battery drain. If fransiscofranco builds his Franco kernel for your device, then flash it. Your phone will thank you.

AdAway is pretty self explanatory. Blocks ads via hosts file that's updated pretty regularly.

Ccleaner is basically the same as it's Windows counterpart. It deletes junk files and clears app cache. Nice and lite as it should be. No bullshit like 90% of other apps that claim to do the same thing.

L Speed is a root junkie's best friend. It contains more performance tweaks than I care to list here. It comes with predefined profiles for less savvy users. Use with caution. Incompatible tweaks could have undesirable effects, especially on stock ROMs.

AKT (Advanced Kernel Tweaks) is basically just a script that runs a predefined set of kernel tweaks at boot very much like L Speed. Do not use both since they will conflict. AKT does have an app to allow users to avoid using a terminal shell to run the various scripts, but you'll have to flash the AKT zip first anyway to install them. There are several scripts that each contain their own variations of kernel tweaks that aim for better battery life or performance or a balance between the two.

All of those apps will be greatly beneficial if you learn to use them properly. I think Ccleaner is the only one that can't be found on http://www.XDA-Developers.com which is a site that I highly recommend you join if you want to solve exactly the kinds of problems you're having and learn how to use those apps to make the most of your phone. All except AKT and Adaway can be found in the Play Store.

Also, Poweramp. Buy it. It's worth it. Works great with Viper4Android. Get through the rest of this post and we can talk about V4A.
