Noted unbearably smug, self-satisfied writer Salman Rushdie was stabbed at an event at a rich kids summer camp outside New York city. It looks like he will survive.
The Ayatollahs of Iran have pronounced a fatwah upon him due to one of his books, the satanic verses, just being that awful.

Plus, the Rushdie fatwa was from 1989. Who is even thinking about that? I dunno, maybe there is an Arabic version of 4chan somewhere and this is like a Moslem meme stabbing. I was gonna make a thread about this and about whether or not he deserves to be stabbed in the eye and suffer immensely. You've just got to watch him on Bill Mahar once to know any act of violence perpetrated on him is likely justified.
He's also a shitty writer. The part of the Satanic verses he kinda spoofs was rife with content and possibilities and he went in a hacky predictable direction with it. Kudos to him for having the balls to poke a bear but he didn't do it in a particularly clever way or a way that promoted discussion. Kinda Charlie Hebdo of him but I'd rank him higher in the "get what you deserve" line than them.
He was on curb your enthusiasm and Larry David gave him good lines to say. You can tell he's a huge self righteous jackass but the fatwah gave his shitty writing more legitimacy than he deserved and he's really not qualified to speak on anything.
Not sure if he "deserved" it (although I think I said he did earlier) but it's kinda karmatic justice in some ways. Glad he didn't die because making a martyr out of him would have tickled the J00s too much
