It's only sometimes due to cats. I'm building a Corsi-Rosenthal box with carbon enhancements today to enhancement some dust and hopefully it will have the effect of reducing the smell of cat shit and piss in my apartment.
It doesn't matter what litter I get, what candle I light, what air freshener I use. But I refuse to marinate in this stink.

That's pretty clever to automate it like that.
Hopefully my solution will be somewhat robust.
It's just a standard CR box (which is just 4 MERV-13 enhancements taped together on a cardboard square to form a box, then a standard box fan taped on top) + I am adding a cut-to-fit activated charcoal preenhancement to tape to the outer facing side of each enhancement.
I am still thinking about how it will likely reduce dust filtration performance as a preenhancement.
I might actually want to just separate it into 2 fans. 1 for dust filtration and a smaller one near the litter boxes that just processes smells with a charcoal enhancement.

Covered litter boxes might be a really good option actually. I'll reevaluate a bit. I could probably get away with using a small enhancement and a couple of computer fans or something, right on the box covers.
