A well-aware father. Something most fathers aren't. If you raise her right and her environment is just, then you won't have to fear this. The number one mistake that fathers make is that they believe just by raising her right, she will not do anything shameful in their absence. Oftentimes, this is a recipe for disaster, ESPECIALLY if the environment she is in is the opposite of what you taught her. Environment could be from the country you're in to the friends she has. A lot of fathers think "My daughter would never do that." And then that's exactly what they do. -

I think I turned out ok, that is my self-respect is high and I know what I want. My dad gave me complete freedom though and spoiled me. He was accepting and didn’t care if I had lesbian posters when I was 15, taught me to drive when I was 13 and ig treated me more as a son if that makes sense. -

Regarding that last line: It does make sense. It seems as if fathers love their daughters more than their sons whereas it seems as if mothers love their sons more than their daughters. -

Idk. My mum’s a narcissist and I’ve noticed she doesn’t like my nephew, I think because he chose me as his favourite. When I was little I was asked who my favourite parent was, I picked my dad and went to sit on his knee. My mum looked unhappy. Maybe that changed everything. She never liked me and I think my sister was her favourite just because she didn’t have a biological dad. My mum didn’t really have a dad, he was brain damaged and her mum was a cold bitch. -

That's a grandmother-grandson relationship; that works differently in general. Technically speaking, grandparents do love their grandchildren. Usually more than their own children (or maybe that's just in my culture). Though when you say that your mother is a narcissist and she comes from an unhealthy home then she passes on what she went through. People are supposed to break the cycle but your mother didn't, so now it's up to you to do that. -

I think things can be healed by parenting your parents, reversing the roles. I’m not worried though, I’m nothing like her. I’m not having children either but something that bothers me is I can’t talk down to children, I talk with them the same as adults just without inappropriate subjects. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. Children love me and that’s great but I don’t think I have the right parent qualities. I wouldn’t make silly voices to make them laugh or anything. -

I don't want children myself which my mother finds upsetting, she keeps trying to convince me that I don't need to have many children, one is enough, she says. I tell her one is too much. She says just go get married. But I know if I do that, children will eventually come and she knows it as well. But I see through her plot. I actually talk with a different voice when talking to children but my friends asked me why I talked like that and that only women do it. I don't know, I never saw it that way. I thought you were supposed to talk to children that way. Unlike you though children don't seem to love/like me at all. I remember being in a tram, together with my brother and there was an East Asian baby a few months old and they looked at my brother with a neutral face, then looked at me angrily, then looked at my brother again with a neutral face and then looked at me again angrily. I started laughing and said to my brother out loud "That baby hates me, look at how they are looking at me angrily." The baby's father heard me and he started laughing as well. We all started laughing. It was pretty funny. Keep in mind that children love my brother as well, he is very good with children and I tend to avoid them, because I think it's weird for a grown man to interact with children. -

Because this world is an awful place and I don't want bad people to hurt my children, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, my great-great-grandchildren, et cetera. You get the point. I may no longer exist but knowing that somewhere down the line one of my offspring could get hurt then I know I'm to blame for that, because if I had decided not to have a child in the first place, that would have never happened. You can call it "unhealthy thinking," but honestly I don't care what others will call it. At the end of the day it's my choice. I would, on the other hand, adopt children but only on the condition that their parents are no longer around. Call me "awful," but I'm not going to raise someone else's mistake either. And yeah, my brother gets on fine with the neighbor's children as well, whereas I just avoid them altogether. It's not that I hate children, it's just that I would rather stay away from them (an ugly male around a child would alert just about anyone). -

That was a darker answer than expected… It’s a little weird to avoid kids for that reason unless you’ve been getting looks from adults. They’ll start talking to me in supermarkets etc and I don’t like it because I can’t talk down to them, and am worried people will find that off. -

Oh, really? I'm not sure if that was a positive thing or a negative thing. What did you think my answer was gonna be? Also, why do you not want to have children? Well, I haven't gotten looks from adults but I just want to be safe than sorry. My first crime is being Islamic, my second crime is being brown and so I know I have to be more careful in what I say and do. It sucks but that's just how it is. Of course, you, as a white person, would not understand because you don't need to represent your people since if you do something bad, people would only blame you. If I do something bad, people will blame my entire group. Like when you do something bad, people will be like "Oh, Erica's just a dumbass." If I do something bad, people be like "See?
