Why minimum wage is bad.

Yeah, nothing screams fascism more than policy that aims to lift huge swaths of the working class out of poverty…
yeah, because the politicians consider the people and their plight when making decisions about minimum wage laws. I mean, that is obvious to everyone. Government is our friend.. they definitely aren't doing it solely as a barrier to entry to the competitors of the people who donated to their campaigns.

Yeah man, you're right, these proles just _think_ earning a living wage is a good thing. In reality they'd just be losing out by not struggling to make ends meet, dying earlier, eating worse, and being generally less happy. What fools are they to imagine literally dying from poverty isn't somehow actually working to their advantage.
It's a fucking SICK world we live in these days. -

In what world does "politicians are self-interested" entail fascism?
Also the idea that minimum wage somehow exists as a political favor to big business is retarded. -

In what world does "politicians are self-interested" entail fascism?
In a kind of world where policies set by politicians dictate at what rate a business compensates its employeesAlso the idea that minimum wage somehow exists as a political favor to big business is retarded.
well unions factor into it, too, because they get more dues from higher paid employees. There are lots of different groups colluding in the endemic corruption that festers within all huge bureaucracies.
I am all fucked up on etiz, hope I remember this tomorrow -

It was a rhetorical question. There is no world where fascism means politicians are self interested because that's not what fascism means.well unions factor into it, too, because they get more dues from higher paid employees. There are lots of different groups colluding in the endemic corruption that festers within all huge bureaucracies.

But this still doesn't explain why minimum wage entails fascism or why it's a bad thing. Hitler himself could support minimum wage but that doesn't change the fact that it's good policy. Unions making a dime off higher paid employees (although I'm not sure there are any powerful unions representing minimum wage employees in america anymore) does exactly nothing to expose an issue with the policy itself. -
2015-08-28 at 6:15 AM UTCIf you rhink its a good thing to micromanage and regulate transactions between free individuals, then sure, it sounds like a great idea. to me, however, it sounds like fucking bullshit, and a sneaky and weasely way for the government and unions to create revenue streams for themselves.
-
2015-08-28 at 7:05 AM UTCWell I was addressing your accusation that minimum wage is fascist, not wether or not it's a good policy in general. I'll assume you've given up on establishing that.
micromanage
"micromanage" is just a pointless slur that doesn't mean anything more than "some level of management I don't personally like".and regulate transactions between free individuals
Yeah, most people approve of regulation of transactions between people. The great sacred tenant of libertarianism that is property law requires regulation of transactions between individuals. -

The problem with laffer curve arguments and their ilk (like this anti-minimum wage argument) is that they always presume to know the shape of the curve and that we're on the suboptimal right side of the peak which, so far, we've been presented with absolutely no evidence of. An exhaustive list of things that could happen to employment rates if we increase minimum wage: they go down, they stay the same, they go up. The onus is on you to demonstrate why the former is the case. So far you've given us "employers will automate" which assumes that the tipping point for automation cost-efficiency is somewhere between the current and proposed minimum wage (although we don't even know what you think those are since they very place to place) AND that the cost of investment in automation is zero or trivial. Neither of these are obvious, in fact the latter is obviously false.
When i talk about minimum wage being bad i talk about cases where the government has set the minimum wage above what the market would normally correct for. So if in actuality the market dictates labor should cost 9 dollars an hour and the government sets the minimum wage at 12 dollars we have a problem. Here's the proof you requested.

2015-08-28 at 8:35 AM UTCloling @ lanny trying to explain that minimum wage is not a facist thing and this silly bitch doesnt understand. Mike, you should look into what fascism actually is before going off and saying "THATS FASCISM!". To be honest I would prefer a fascist government to a socialist one because fascist governments rock. Honestly if Mussolini did like he should have and kept his brittish contacts/ties itally would have been rockin out in WWII. Unfortunately they got fucked because Germany and the thin eyes had very few resources to contribute to italy.

What did you say about the glorious third reich you little bitch? Italy was total fucking weaksauce during the entirety of WWII, they lost in Africa so Rommel had to come clean their shit up, then they lost in Greece, then they fucked up and their islands got invaded. If Mussolini wasn't a little bitch faggot all those troops could have been spent fighting the Russians instead. Also, Germany had lots of resources like steel, ever seen a Panther Panzer? That's what i call a tank son.

Forced min wage by the government is leaning more towards fascism than just letting the market determine wages. -
2015-08-28 at 2:41 PM UTCyou guys are all retarded, I neverf said anything about fascism, I was just ridiculing lanny's response to someone else saying something about fascism.
to me, 'fascism' is just a term thrown around to demonize one's enemy, and it is just as ridiculous and irrelevant as any other 'ism'. -

But why is that situation an issue? Why do market pressures produce the optimum in that case? Automation is not the exclusive force that sets the market value of labor.
Assuming your argument is still "lower employment is bad, increasing the minimum wage above what the market would otherwise produce decreases employment, QED minimum wage is bad" then you have to demonstrate the second premise, why does a minimum above market significantly reduce rates of employment? Some portion of employers may opt to automate, some may be running on such a small profit margin that increasing the cost of operations that much makes them unprofitable but a higher minimum also increases employee incentive to enter the job market. So you seem to owe us an account both of why the former figure will outstrip the latter and why the difference is greater than the collective increase in earnings of the working class. -

I didnt say anything bad about the third reich. I pointed out that they lost and because of that Italy got fucked. Italy was weaksauce during WWII BECAUSE Germany didnt have the resources to fight their own war plus Italys. If we wanna talk about Germany in WWII they were some strong motherfuckers. I mean the German people held the entire world at bay FOR SIX DAMN YEARS in what amounted to them vs nearly every world superpower. Talk about ballers son!
Also if Mussolini sent his troops to Russia they would have died anyway. Everybody knows its a fools errend to invade Russia. Nepolian couldnt do it, Hitler couldnt do it its just not feasable to attempt. If Hitler actually listened to his advisors and waited to invade Russia the outcome of that war would have been drastically changed. It was foolish to send that many troops and expend that many resources because all it did was kill troops and deplete resources resulting in less ability to fight the fronts that mattered.

Of course invading Russia was stupid. But in the days of italies invasion Germany had sent lots of troops there as well which would have been to good use elsewhere as well, so yeah, i'm a bit shitposting anyway. But Nazi Germany was pretty cool, mmk? -

the bottom line is, if you want a better wage, get a fucking education, you uneducated, ambition-lacking, intellectually stunted niggers.

$1.25 for a double cheeseburger? No wonder people are obese over there. I think you have to pay around $7 for a double cheeseburger over here. I haven't been able to check the actual price because my internet connection is being a retarded faggot as always. -
2022-08-25 at 6:21 AM UTCOkay, so they don't sell double cheeseburgers here, apparently. They do sell regular cheeseburgers here for $2,20. So then a double cheeseburger would be around, what? $3,50, maybe? You could get almost three double cheeseburgers for that price. Explains why people here are not as obese. There's still obese people here but it's noticeable, most people range from skinny to chubby. Obese people are a rarity.
