When is killing in self defense okay?

   If a person tried stealing a tomato from my garden I'd go "hey! What the heck?? What are you doing in my garden??! Give me my tomato back!!!"
   
   They would run away and I would chase them until I caught them, tackling then to the ground being careful not to harm the tomato, then I'd have a chat with them and find out why they did it. If I found the reason to be understandable, I would allow them to keep the tomato and make an arrangement with them if they wanted more tomatoes. If I didn't like their reasoning I would kill them right then and there to prevent the inevitable pain and suffering they would continue to cause others throughout their life by stealing their tomatoes.
   
   It would be self-defense as my property especially something I planted and grew myself would almost feel like one of my children so yeah if you steal one of my tomato children you better have a damn good excuse or you're getting your throat cut, son.

   Personally I wouldn't, I"m a very giving person. I would try my best to catch them and then guilt trip them about it and if they are an OK person that I choose to give things to I would certainly give them more. If they continue stealing after I make it clear I do not like them and do not wish them to deprive me of property, I would poison all of the food and let them continue on their nefarious lifestyle.
