In my case I started brewing iced tea to replace sodas. Then I realised I fucking love brewing iced tea, and experimenting with flavours and tweaking the body of the tea with each flavour to see what I like best. Then I started brewing a lot more than I could drink, because I couldn't wait to brew the next batch and taste it and fuck around with it. I bought more jugs to store it, then another fridge, but I simply couldn't keep up. So I was faced with the option of throwing them away... So instead I bought a bunch of interesting empty bottles and decanters from thrift stores and started gifting them + tea to people. Turns out that was not enough, so I bought a boba tea sealer and a bajillion cups and rolls of sealing film, went to the local flea market with a trunk full of coolers filled with ice (kept the bobs cups in garbage bags in my back seat and in the market) and sold them for 99¢ a pop, sold out in like 2 hours. Next week I brought 2x as many, priced at $1.99 and sold out in about the same time.
I kept bumping up the price in smaller increments. Then settled back at $4 because other people at the flea market were selling way more expensive drinks and it was about the equilibrium price. My max was $6, where it still sold out but slower than I wanted (I don't want to spend 6 hours at the fuckin flea market).
Then a UCF Knights football game happened and I rented a van to take a full load of tea and ice, and to maximise storage, I just bought the tea in dispensers and hooked the sealer up to a UPS, sealed the cups on the spot and sold them. I sold out fast there too, and this time I was charging $5 for the first cup, $2 per refill. Next was a game in Miami. I made a day out of the 4 hour drive and bumped it up to $10 for the cup + tea, $5 for refill OR $30 for unlimited refills till I run out. Sold out faster, made more profit because it turns out that the limiting factor is my supply, so one fatty couldn't keep refilling, instead it was multiple people who got about 4 refills in on average, so I came out harder on top.
Then I finally decided to buy bottling materials and equipment and started brewing in big ass soup pots in my garage. I bought a big ole shitty van, started selling them for $7, registered as a business and started going to games and selling g them at $7 a pop so I didn't have to undergo the analpain of hand sealing boba cups. I made significantly less profit, but the "work" essentially turned into me handing people bottles through the van windows and taking their money.
Then finally I just got bored of sitting in Florida heat selling bottles to retarded college kids so I kicked it. -

It was fun, I got to see a lot of dope football and meet a lot of new people. It was very successful but I got bored so I shut it down without a second thought and moved on.
This might sound cheesy but you can also afford to be magnanimous and altruistic. I've been donating to important humanitarian causes as well as the arts in various forms. I have a $1000/month budget for Patreons, to support cool people who make the internet great, and I separately patronize a really exceptional photographer who goes to the most incredible locations, which are difficult to access, in order to take stunning photographs and videos. I quietly pay for other table's meals at restaurants, carefully give nice gifts to people who I consider true friends, and work to benefit any community that I'm living in.
Money is simply a tool. Now you could either use it to sit around fingering your asshole while the world passes you by, or you could live your dreams out with it. That's up to you.
