I saw a meme referencing this and thought it was a joke
it wasn't
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%90or%C4%91e_Martinovi%C4%87_incidentBasically a Serbian farmer was bored, so he drove a stick into the ground, put a narrow glass bottle on the stick and squatted down on it. As per the infamous Jar Guy, it broke and he had to go to hospital.
Except this time he blamed he Albanians somehow. It was their fault. Maybe they made the glass too thin, or maybe one of them snuck up on him and shoved him down by the shoulders so the glassplosion was all but guaranteed. Who knows, but this, specifically the imagery of 'impalement' as a punishment under the Ottoman Empire, led to massive media attacks against the Albanians, subsequently leading to the various Yugoslav wars.
With a broken bottle
On a stake
As though through
a lamb
but alive,
they went through Đorđe Martinović
As if with their first and heavy steps into their future field they treaded …
When out of the opium and pain
Djordje Martinović came round
As if from the long past
Turkish times
He woke up on a stake.
