Apparently Ukrainian losses are completely insane and for every one unit of artillery they manage to fire at the Russians the Russians are firing 100 back. The regime in Kyiv is simply ordering them to hold put, spending their lives to achieve nothing more than slow the Russian advance. -
2022-05-08 at 11:20 PM UTCnow they can become the real ghosts of key'yev.
-
2022-05-08 at 11:25 PM UTCUkrainians will fight and die for breaded chicken with garlic butter in it, god willing.
-
2022-05-08 at 11:41 PM UTClol, according to prisoners the UK-supplied NLAWs have a 25% chance of firing at all
sounds like it's due to poor maintenance or storage - the main issues being that the batteries are dead and the operator has to twist a car battery onto the terminals, or the actual projectile variously detonates early or not at all and just bonks into things.
what's more, at least one marine commander claims that this even happened when his troops were being trained with them and the trainers refused to discuss the high failure rate -

really just a sad reality when the other side has all the heavy fire support and the people 'supporting' you see you as nothing more than a vehicle to bleed the enemy -

Originally posted by aldra 1. Snake Island operation failed disastrously, Ukrainians lost a fighter, a bomber, six helicopters and an amphibious transport
2. Mariupol is entirely locked down except for Azovstahl. Azovstahl is totally out of supplies, humanitarian corridors have now been closed after a week running 6am to 6pm and roughly 1000 fighters (mixed regular military and others) surrendered today alone

Russian MoD for their plans and movements, plenty of media (mostly from the Ukrainian side) at the moment, will be a lot more in a week or so when the Russians release combat footage (MoD suppresses media for a minimum 3 days).
The story seems to be that the Russians knew the attack as coming so they pulled everything from the island except some old or dummy equipment then pulverised them when the Ukrainians tried to land. They've spent the last day or so destroying all of the Ukrainian airstrips that participated in the raid.
In the article you can see the drones and planes face zero resistance on their initial bombing runs. They also appear to be claiming their own losses as Russian (turn sound off):
posters claim that it shows a Russian evacuation helicopter being destroyed, but you can see the soldiers exit the helicopter and go prone in a defensive pattern, which Russian troops on a Russian-controlled island would have no reason to do.
also given the explosion, that looks like a FAB-500 which I guess they decided to drop on a helicopter just for lulz -

2022-05-09 at 10:39 AM UTCWhat weirds me out is honestly in the 1980s it was a very violent and volatile decade. I saw lots of weird shit yet no deaths in real time, killing, murder etc in real life. just the story afterwards and people I knew. it was weird but life rolled on. but I will tell you this as fact (for 90 percent of the population ) people were fucking edgy about the cold war, often bringing up a 'what if" from time to time. and lots of TV and film on nuclear war scenario. I guess we didn't have gadgets outside of cars to wrench on to keep us brain-dead and mentally occupied back then. work, sex, eat, shit, wrench on car or play musical instrument.
Point: no one seems scared today. not even pussy lazy Americans or those ass-hats above us
Aldra. what is the likelihood of use seeing WWIII at our front doors? probably not this time? -

At the same time our governments use chemical irritants on us all the time.
Because use of irritants is banned in warfare under the Geneva convention. -

A tragedy on a human level, but Geo-politically speaking probably the best move NATO and friends could make given the situation. -

Russian MoD's been pretty open so long as information release doesn't impact forces on the tactical level, to the extent that they're attacked for not participating enough in the 'information war'. They didn't even deny the Moskva sank, just been vague about the circumstances.
It's hardly just 'Russia said' either; you can see from raw video that the Ukrainians attacked the island and faced no resistance, got pounded on and fled, then had their airfields pounded on when they revealed which ones they were operating from. Sure the destroyed equipment list may not be totally accurate but it doesn't matter a whole lot.
The media is way overstating the importance of Snake Island too, it's too small for most strategic purposes, could be used for staging in an attack on Odessa but that's entirely theoretical -

Don't bother with Speedy. He's been lied to by the US government and MSM >1000 times, but still believes them. Muh intelligence community. He doesn't realize they're running ops on yanks in equal measure.
