   Does everyone need to join near the first day? For instance if someone joins a server that's on day 10 or 20 will it just be too hard for them?

   depends on the difficulty of the server
   
   
   generally though as difficulty progresses the players will accumulate weapons and materials so even if you jump in at day 100 you can pick up a gun and not be a burden unless it's horde night or you try and explore a skyscraper
