Primarily infrastructure as it depends on Ukraine for water (after Russian invasion the water was shut off and (with the usual Russian mismanagement) it turned into an ecological disaster.

Also all the people I've known from Crimea (not a big group admittedly) claimed Ukrainian as a native language so the Russian myth about it being entirely Russian is just that... a myth.

Also the population with the longest standing in the area (Crimean Tatars) preferred Ukrainian rule.

And in 1994 Russia agreed to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

    1. Ukraine cut off the water after the annexation. They dammed the Dniper which caused the unnatural ecological disaster out of spite

    2. Russia is much more prevalently spoken in Crimea

    3. Tatars which make up 8-10% of population feel they are treated unfairly because they have frequently collaborated with Russias enemies over the years. If I recall they were forcibly relocated there as well (or perhaps they were forcibly relocated off Crimea). It's unfortunate that Russia treats them as second class citizens but they are pretty stupid and stubborn about their relationship with Russia.

    4. So was the US. Ukraine was supposed to have a neutral status that they have admitted they do not

I hope that would be an analog file then. Still, if you were to do it remotely there are some serious cryptography issues to consider. And you probably would want some sort of short wave radio single to be able to communicate with them effectively.

Furthermore, if the manufacturer can be compromised and every mine does not have a one time pad, the weak point in the system would be the manufacturers themselves. As i am sure they are not impervious to cyber security issues.

Possibly. Short distance for comms though would be a hindrance logistically speaking. I would say that creating a mine that has such capabilities, it would be better to use 3 or even 2g, with specially assigned frequencies, reserved for such operations. A little like the emergency services use, although with encrypted traffic going back and forth over dedicated channels.

  10. The area around Chernobyl is filled with wildlife and roaming dogs and workers. It's just not that radioactive. After the explosion the radioactivity was enough to kill the trees in the red forest, but that was a long time ago. The red forest was bulldozed, and buried in pits. The whole place around there is full of these mounds with little radiation symbol signs on them saying "danger" in Russia.

In short, more propaganda, just like this new Bucha thing. Apparently it took 4 days after the Russians left for the Ukrainians to arrive and find bodies lying in the road for several hundred metres. Why would they be lying in the road? Why didn't anyone in Bucha say anything? Mobile phones are working fine in that area and people were talking to those in Bucha.

Ukrainians have distinguished themselves for sleaze in this war, but look at their allies. Who can believe the stories we hear about from World War 2 after seeing this shit happening in real time?

    1. Crimea has been Russian since the 16th century, and the only reason it was under Ukrainian stewardship is because Kruschev was a drunk (the transfer was even illegal under the Soviet Union's constitution)

    2. Literally the only industry it has is the Soviet/Russian naval base, which has been maintained by Russia since its foundation

    3. The Crimea has run referendums off and on to return to Russia for the last 30 years or so, every time voting with over 80% for it, every time ignored by Kiev

  15. Russia has been growing for the last 600 years, and has basically spent the last 600 years in a constant series of wars in order to do so.

It is a militaristic culture, with paranoid babushka fascism the guiding principle. Basically the idea is "we have to invade other places before they come for us." Like they said about Rome, they conquered the world in self defense.

But like Rome they don't have the birthrate to do that shit any more.

This Belarusian guy I know made a huge monologue about Catherine the super duper great that ended in submitting that she probably did fuck that horse to death because no man was worthy of her greatness

  17. DPR leader Denis Pushilin, right, awarding a medal to Lieutenant Colonel Timur Kurilkin, left, for "destroying 250 Nazis".

    This is the dumbest timeline.

I can't believe Denis Pushilin has been the head of thr DPR for so long. In the early days they went through a dozen in like a week, idk what makes him so special
  19. "Here's another medal for killing 250 nazis."

"Nice, can't wait to kill more. Fuck nazis."
