    Is it just me or does Grandeur have negative connotations. Fun fact about Dutch culture; even if you're the richest motherfucker you are expected to behave like everyone else. Being flamboyant or grandiose is considered inappropriate. At least in polite society.

    I get it if it’s so as not to make people uncomfortable. In hs with friends I made a point not to use words I didn’t think they’d understand, so as not to make them uncomfortable.
