In any kind of socialism the common good is predicated on what the state deems to be the common good, and the state is generally the leader and his inner circle. So if i had to live in a Nazi country i'd hope to be part of the leadership. Because your well being as a commoner may have primacy when the state can afford it, but it is fundamentally susceptible to the whims of the leadership, whether they act rational or not.

Putin looking comfy and warm in a $14,000 coat at a recent astroturfed rally.
Apparently he prefers to astroturf his rallies instead of simply allow his supporters to simply turn up. Look at the crowd shots - these people are not fanatical about being there. But if people are allowed some political autonomy then they might network, organise, and eventually threaten his power. Therefore even his supporters get politically suppressed.
I think it's a Russian thing more so than anything specific to VladdyDaddy.

I mean three armies consisting of millions of men seems like it would do the trick with regards to the USSR. But we all know ow that went.
