  2. This sort of shit is why I couldn't believe they would actually invade. How could they have been so stupid?

    summary?

they've taken control of most of the major eastern cities and the Dnieper and have locked down almost the entire Ukrainian military; not bad for inside of two weeks and minimal heavy standoff fire. consider how long it took for US forces to make it into Baghdad even after obliterating the bulk of the country's infrastructure

Operation dessert storm only took an hour to establish air superiority. Russian military is a fucking joke full of retard conscripts that don't give a shit about fighting for their country.

If ww3 breaks out all the fancy gravity bombs or whatever Russia has isn't gonna be enough to save them from a true warrior culture. They're people are a fucking joke that have never won a war and would all be speaking German right now if it wasn't for the allies saving their asses

And with the economy destroyed and half the country out of work they'll find it easy to get high quality MORALLY SUPERIOR BEING recruits from the cities.

What's Russia going to call this in a historical context? They have ww2 as "the great patriotic war" the 2014 Ukraine crisis as the "war in donbass" but the "Ukraine special operation" doesn't have a good ring to it.

So much groupthink was involved in this dumb operation. We are over a week in and Russia has shit the bed for all intents and purposes. The oligarchs don't care how much of the country is destroyed and Russian influence and money is looking less and less attractive by the hour. It didn't need to get so bad. Going straight for Kiev then not doing anything when on the outskirts reeks of groupthink dumbassery. I don't think anyone saw that coming because they thought Putin was smarter

They haven't taken control of "most of the major Eastern cities" at all. They haven't even finished taking mariupol which should have been a gimme. The Eastern cities aren't important in a strategic context either. Kharkiv is still under Ukranian control, same with dnipro. Kherson has been the biggest victory so far and that's in the south basically bordering Crimea. They're spreading forces thin and going after Odessa just to cut off the Ukrainian coast but that's when the rhetoric is going to ratchet up because the US owns the Odessa port.

Can't really keep comparing this conflict to Iraq for a ton of reasons I'm sure you are aware of. The 3 pronged advance has been a logistical nightmare. They barely took Sumy and have elected to go around some small, non strategic towns because they don't want to keep losing time, men and supplies. Even if the casuality tallies are inflated (which they are) just look at the dam maps and you'll see how badly this is going.

Russia attacked out of weakness. That much is obvious to absolutely everyone. The problem is its now exposed itself and made itself weaker. How long will it take the weak Russian economy to get back on track after this? They had 4 half decent economic years before plunging themselves back into isolation in the name of autistically trying to assert the geopolitical order of the soviet union. They could have worked in Ukraine to influence public support for Russia but instead they turned the world against themselves. Fucking stupid. Plus all the military blunders

Zelensky basically said "OK" to Russia's demand for Crimea and LDPR, and basically called NATO backstabbers (which is what they are).

The war could be over tonight or it could go on 3 months. Neither would surprise me.

That scenario would be most beneficial for both sides at this time. I hope it happens. Source is suspect af and doesn't seem like much has been gained from the talks so far

Could be one of those situations that Zelensky seems to keep finding himself in that doing the smart thing is blocked by elements within his own government.

Correction: Russia has captured 0 (zero) major eastern cities and hasn't even taken Sumy yet. They're trying to get the highway between luhansk and kharkiv but Ukraine launched a counter offensive a day or two ago which pushed them back

"Hey let's spread our troops as thin as rice paper and offer them no air support" I thought these niggas were supposed to be Chessmasters
