That's actually very noble of her...medical issues like that weigh very heavily upon the patient and their whole family due to everything from costs, emotional hardship, and just general traumatic stress involved with caring for someone undergoing medical treatment.
I'd take their cat if I wasn't so far away. I love rescuing animals like that from people that really need the help. We've rescued all 3 of our fur babies and I was more of a dog person until my girl basically made me rescue these kitties with her. Now I love the little stinkers. -

I'm not gonna sugar coat it, it's going to be rough, and you're still going to think about it years from now, but you at some point find a sort of peace and are able to move on and let life continue again. It sounds like you've dealt with loss before, so I won't get too crazy into trying to sound comforting.

It helps them figure out what was happening the last moments of the victims life. They might have been looking for any clues that it could have been foul play (any time there's a dead body and nobody around they investigate it), or see if maybe she killed herself over something that was going on that needs to be addressed, et cetera.
I'm guessing you're a career criminal and pissed off because you keep going to jail for being a retard. -

She left a detailed suicide note and was locked inside her own residence, they didn't need to open letters to determine foul play or not, that's just them flexing their power and being assholes.

I'm assuming you still have other relatives that you can turn to for at least some support? Siblings? Aunts? Uncles? I hope so. I've always thought one of these weirdest feelings would be having no parents or siblings when you're still relatively young. Sincerely hope you have support to help you through this shit. Maybe you should keep the kitty. It could be helpful and a nice gesture toward her, I guess.

That's not the responding police officer's job, either way. If anything, that would be the job of the detectives. When police officers respond to a situation and find a dead body, theres really no logical for them to just start grabbing nearby envelopes and boxes and whatever the fuck and just start opening them.
