want to hear a funny riddle?

solar and wind require astronomically more concrete and steel per mW of power output than nuclear or fossil fuel plants, but are actually unable to generate enough power density to manufacture enough of either

Perhaps when it becomes apparent to Germany they'll face a massive energy crisis they'll reconsider their Nuclear energy policy. I'm not holding my breath, but there are clearly signals coming from Germany they don't want to be dependent on Russian energy anymore. Whether it's already too late for that is hard to say.

To be honest, and this is from an EU as well as national perspective with regards to my own fatherland if these developments should occur(Expansion of nuclear) that would be a net positive for the EU and Germany and The Netherlands. Also with regards to neighbors. The Netherlands is pretty good at energy policy, not only is our energy market diverse locally, with fracking operations and deep sea drilling plus imports from all places where Dutch Royal Shell operates. We have pretty advanced sustainable technologies and markets, moreso than Germany, a plurality of alternatives which are supplemented by our two Nuclear Power Stations.

Yee, every 'green' technology is massively inferior to Nuclear. That's just the simple fact of the matter.

lol that wasn't even a riddle

I think I'm in mild WDs again and can't focus on shit

I'm not even saying nuclear is the best option for what it's worth, it's just retarded not to consider it as a stop-gap until other technologies are able to deliver higher efficiencies. in terms of 'green' power I think we should be focusing on tidal and geothermal reactors

Correct me if i am wrong because i am not too versed on geo-thermal, but doesn't that require conditions they have in say Iceland, where you basically have a lot of volcanic activity?

Also as a side note, i am personally a massive proponent of Nuclear Energy. The more the better, especially here in my neck of the woods. We have great safety standards and a great safety record. I'd prefer it if all funds that are going into 'green' would be redirected towards the development of fluorescent green. AKA Nuclear Power.
  9. Originally posted by Sophie I am aware of that fact, and i am certainly aware that the US can't compete on volume, but it might not be out of the realm of possibility for the US to operate energy shipments at a loss for a good while. It's unsustainable as long as Germany is committed to green seppuku but in the short run it may have been enough incentive to push Germany over the edge in terms of getting them to at the very least start meeting their NATO obligations.

Again, speculation on my part, but it seems reasonably plausible to me.

    not necessarily at a loss.

the US could have just "subsidize" its gas supply for germany with freshly printed fed money.

that way germany gets its supply of gasses it needs and US O&G companies and their shareholders get asstronomically rich.

    its a win-win-win scenario.

Sure, i could definitely see something like that. But that still doesn't solve the problem of the sheer amount of volume the US will have to produce to 100% get rid of Germany's dependence on Russian energy, should Germany decide to not use Nuclear as at the very least a stop-gap like Aldra mentioned.

just means you need to dig deeper really

Ah, yee. Opiod WD sucks balls. Tapentadol an RC?

Would that be more cost-effective than Nuclear?

Tidal is hard to store IIRC and even in places with huge bores its not efficient at this time.

You're right though, we need a stop gap and geothermal is probably best in my mind. I like solar too but we need to find a way to increase efficiency without just building more/bigger panels and cells

US do have a lot of natural gasses its just most of the time theyre just wasted because US oil companies are not interested in harvesting them.

tonnes of natural gas are produced during fracking process but they never develop a way to collect them in an economically viable way.

One stroke of a pen would make that happen.

    and use bigger copper rods.

nah it's similar to tramadol but has some really weird effects I haven't seen with anything else. mostly bizarre visual distortions, like I kept thinking I was seeing ghosts out of the corner of my eye and some of my girlfriend's hair on the shower drain kept looking like it was moving toward my leg every time I looked away. last time I had some it made me terrified of dying in a way that's really hard to explain; it took about a week before I could stop thinking about it.

no not cost-effective, at least not at the start, but zero waste and emissions, less risk of catastrophe if it fails, less maintenance (maybe), limitless fuel

I saw a post on 4chan the other day where someone pointed out that virtually all power generation methods are some variant of BOIL WATER SPIN WHEEL and now it makes me angry to think about

Sounds like it has affinity for Kappa and Delta Opioid receptors besides just Mu. Kappa especially is notorious for mild deliriant and dissociative effects.

I should look into geo-thermal some more tbh. And yeah, turbines go brrrrrr.
