Your solution would be to plow through LDPR and destoy their standard of living from the Russian standard to the Ukrainian standard. Meaning old age pensioners get around half what they currently get, from about nothing to about half nothing per month. All to save the honor and glory of Ukraine? My girlfriend is Ukrainian, she earns about €350 a month. I can pass on your appreciation of how glorious Ukraine is and how it is providing a great standard of living to all it's people if you would wish. What would you like me to tell them?
Would you like to tell them that America will fight for Donbass to the last Ukrainian? -

Uh huh, uh huh. This is life young man, get over it. Putin is to blame for every last death that comes from this. Would you like to explain that to their families? He’s tried and tried to blame everyone but himself for what’s going to happen. He might be able to save face, but I doubt it, he’s too power hungry. -

The fuck are you on about?
Putin isn't to blame for any of this shit. Russians in Ukraine prefer Russia, because Russia is about twice as rich, meaning if you live in Russia as opposed to Ukraine your pension is about €160 a month as opposed to €80 a month. I'm not making those figures up, I once had pension notifications sent to my number in Ukraine. Ukraine has emptied out, about all that are left are old people, losers and unambitious women. Good for people like me that have met Ukrainian girls, but it's still a failure of a country.
Putin is power hungry? He runs the biggest nation on earth and has consistently humiliated you yanks. What about your embarassing predictions that Putin would bomb Kyiv on the 16th February. I was in Kyiv on the 16th, but you guys are such clowns no one takes anything you say seriously.
Obviously you fell for Putin's misinformation. Your trillion dollar sigint apparatus was humiliated, like a bunch of clowns.
Putin misdirected you into thinking he was going to attack one target (Kyiv), when his real objective was another (Donbass). How embarrassing. How outclassed and outmatched you guys have been. You will never recover, not in 1,000 years, from such a humiliation. -

Originally posted by Donald Trump I bought like €12,000 in Russian Stock Market Index funds recently, because it seemed to have bottomed. Despite oil and gas and nickel and all the various commodities Russia produces this crap in Donbass hasn't been good for Russia economically.
who knows
The sanctions the US is threatening can't really hurt Russia in terms of its real economy (the existing sanctions have benefited the Russian state by devaluing the private companies that ate up state assets in the 90s, allowing the state to buy them back at bargain prices); even if they're kept out of the EU market they can just pivot east and sell all of the gas that was going to Germany and the EU to China and friendly middle-eastern countries like Iran (and eventually via the BRI). Is Power of Siberia up and running yet?
That's the point of the sanctions - not to hurt Russia directly, but to take the European energy sector for themselves. They can't compete on price or product (due to shipping vs. pipelines US gas costs Germany roughly twice as much as Russian) so they're trying to find other ways to take control of the market. It's a safe bet that economic sanctions would continue to escalate regardless of the situation.
In terms of how that's reflected on speculative markets though, I have no idea -

there was never any trickery lol
Putin's always said he had no interest in taking Ukraine, but that he wouldn't allow a genocide in the Donbass.
All they had to do was take it at face value. -

Dunno either. Lost about €1500 on RDX today, but got about 6x that on various brent crude oil products. Heads I win, tails they lose. Dunno where RDX will go tomorrow, I am stuck between sell and buy, so I'll just sit on it. I'm down about 20% on RDX since I bought it though, so a loser. I misread the situation, then failed to react quickly when it turned out things were escalating more than we expected.
Russian oil production hasn't quite bounced back after 2020 as much as you might expect. Yes it's true, a lot has gone to China, but it still doesn't quite add up. Could be Russia's oil is mostly shale and other low quality deposits. Haven't really looked into it. No matter what the story is, it's almost certainly good for people who are long oil, since Russia is a major oil producer. It also has huge quantities of things like iron, nickel, blah, blah, so is a great natural resouces play. -

2022-02-22 at 4:57 AM UTCdoubt they had the chance. That's the nature of modern warfare though, outrange and obliterate the enemy before they have the chance to react.
Kind of sad that they fucked up and ended up in the wrong place, but what would you do if you saw armor rolling over the border at you? that and they were fresh off an attack on LDNR infrastructure anyway. -

Looking from the video that you posted earlier those guys were set to kill all in front of them. There's not much non-violent you can do against a heavily armed banzai charge. -

Originally posted by Donald Trump Ukraine is a dysfunctional joke of a country. Ukrainians are romantic and narcissistic, lazy and childish, and aren't interested in doing all the boring and disciplined things you need to do to make a successful country work.
Ukrainians make good women, but bad men.
I've never been there and don't know enough about day-to-day life to talk about their character, but I feel like they're in a similar position to Russia in the 90s. The coup more or less destroyed centralised political power and both the domestic oligarchs and foreign interests are scrambling to grab everything they can, squabbling constantly. There's so much exploitation and grift that the existing infrastructure simply cannot work properly.
A quote from a few years back stuck with me, 'even if the world outside the borders of the Ukraine were to totally disappear, internal conflict would rage until it eventually burned out. there simply are not enough wealth and resources to be shared among existing interests'. Even if they were able to retake the Eastern regions like they'd hoped it wouldn't be enough for the country to recover. They're going to need co-ordinated international support (ie. engaging diplomatically with both Russia and the west), or they're going to suffer the same fate of 90-2000s Russia and may not have someone like Putin pull them out of it. -

please hold biden to the same stringent "american" standard that your holding putin to, else justbshut the fuck up.
the only thing your qualified to hold are negro dicks. -

#metoo.
i'm shocked russia is willing to send actual russian troops into LDNR and risk actual blood loss for a bunch of villages.
this is quite a gamble for putin standard.
it might work if the ukrainians come to their senses and are convinced of russian supremacy, but if the ukies are still drunk on NATO promises and high on US arms and think its invincible,
they might just attack russian troops and military polices and then things get real crazy real quick. putin must have secured solid backing from china already.
also lol at germany for commiting self-mutilation as soon as they heard russians are going in. it reminds me of man who chopped off his penis because his girlfriend cheated on him.
way to punish a bitch. -

Yeah using artillery or TBMs to halt the Ukrainian offensive is how I thought it'd go, but it seems they think they can avoid actual bloodshed by putting a tripwire force in their way.
Even after the 'peacekeepers' started moving in there have been a lot of artillery strikes and ATGM attacks, will post some videos later.
