2022-01-31 at 11:05 PM UTCSaw this. Though I would never live in San Francisco I have always wanted to own a Victorian house or a "Tutor" style (English/Welsh?) A-frame house.
but mainly Victorian. It's only for people with money. there is no longer a strong historical society so being rich and say from Saudi Arabia, China or some other country, buying one and saying "Fuck you England" and tears it down for some modern piece of shit is a possibility.
of course you could cut it up and sell it in pieces to be assembled elsewhere but why would some rich person bother if they wanted to make that statement. they're already taking down colonials structures and statues in San Francisco and around the country.
Houses are next apparently.
San Francisco started with the Federal Colonial style homes when the "49ers" came to pan Gold in the 1850s. then the Victorian Homes were apparently a rehash of Queen Annes built back in the early 1800s? (I learned this in into to architech courses) but in honor of the Queen Victoria in the late 1800s. Apparently she was a real Bitch in her youth. Real evil bitch turned humanitarian at some point. she was into card readings, séances and religious and became a becon in lib San Francisco for ending child labor or some shit. but before that She got wicked on conquering and jamming the british flag up asses. i dunno.. ask Grylls or Jig.
then came i guess Edwardian style and then Sears came along in the 1920s and sold house kits which they name their tools after. "Craftsman". they're 1920s bungalows. and then came crappy "Ticky tacky delites" of the subdivisions and shit pieces of plywood they basically still make to this day. some people in the 1920s built entire villages of Welsh style "Thatcher" roof in places like San Mateo County and umm Berkley/Oakland
what's my point? people want to destroy these houses. people wanting to destroy anything with a Euro theme. and build high density low income houses in place of single family houses.

Of course the air was shit for people with asthma. lots of burning coal and soot everywhere. and fire logs but they would smell nice. I bet the earth away from the cities smelled much sweeter than today. i bet flowers and pine trees smelled more intense. or your sinus weren't poisoned with shit.
of course by the 1920-30s shit like D.E.T. or other pest control came about causing cancer clusters.
