At the dope house they call not-so-well-hung "Kingsford" because after he hits the meth pipe the bottom of it looks like the inside of a chimney

yeah, its not easy to steer one of those things. takes a week at least to learn. especially paralleled parking. fucking hell, it's hilarious watching a new guy (green horn?) try and get around a corner without taking out a sign.

especially coming from Oakland's Port. (or any port for that matter)

I've seen it a few times. holding up people for three lights or more. until they clear it without scraping something.

but yeah, it would happen to just about any of us the first days on the job.

one good thing today is most trucks are Automatic now. learning what.. 28 gears or more?

What has 28 gears? I know extremely little about automotives but i thought the max any vehicle had is 8 aside from Nuetral and Parking.

    Please educate me, Fattysan

It was actually as many as 18 plus 2 reverse. the old double clutches had them. most conventional or cabovers are still stick shifts but they probably have 9 and 2 reverse these days. many of the newer ones are Automatice so it doesn't matter

    9, 10, 13, 15, and 18 gears! Eighteen wheeler drivers use a “double-clutch” technique for shifting.

is there any point in having a manual truck verses an automatic

like i get for racing theclutch and timing, etc, because it's hyper critical to shave off seconds, and how you can save gas money by shifting better, or doing something when you're coasting, i don't really know

Seems like a pain in the ass to pointlessly put up with while driving around.

no one has to pay to get a standard rebuilt over the life of the truck just a clutch every now and again,, automatic is gonna need 4 g's at some point in its life maybe 8 g's maybe twice. and yeah automatic is nice if u r lazy or getting older but ur gonna pay for the convivence
