How many times have you had actual British Chips?

0? THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! You never leave your house let alone the country.

There is no such thing as "British chips"

They are virtually identical in every way to any other fries potato prepared anywhere else, the only difference is the country they were cooked in which has no effect on the cooked potato at all.

Even the wikipedia redirect just links "chips" back to either fries or potato chips because normal english speakers don't use cockney british slang terms.

This is basically like arguing that "soda" is better than "pop" and YOU HAVEn'T HAD A REAL SODA UNTIL YOU HAD A BRITISH SODA YOU FUCKING COMMUNIST WITH YOUR CANADIAN SYRUP MAPLE "POP" it makes no fucking difference, you are a schizo

Find me a place selling "fries" in the USA or Canada that cooks them in animal fat/beef dripping...which DOES have a huge effect on the flavor and texture, I'll wait

    Get da fuk ouddda here

Anyone could do that, some probably do. I am pretty sure I knew an ol chippy that actually did that.

A frying medium is hardly a cultural variation

McDonalds actually used to do that years ago but stopped because people starting bitching about it being unhealthy as calorie counting caught on, so they made the switch to vegetable oil. I'm probably missing a few details on that story but I know I read about it.

Heart Attack Grill in Vegas makes fries cooked in pure lard but that kinda doesn't count because it's a single location meme restaurant more or less.

The chips you're describing honestly don't even sound good to me. I really don't want a greasy, soggy, beef-flavored potato wedge. I'd make mashed and gravy if I was looking for that flavor profile or texture.

I'm sure jigaboo johnson a man who professes the benefits of never wanting to own his own business because he "can't be arsed to care that much" knows so much more than every North American fish and chips owner that probably realized decades ago that cooking it in beef drippings is fucking retarded

Sounds to me like he's just reliving some old nostalgia here like when Doritos 3D was a big hit and everyone missed them and then they made them again and it was just the jalapeno cheetos flavor on a shitty dorito and you realize they weren't that good, you are simply remembering them as good because it's associated with other good memories from that time in your life.

You aren't out here cooking fish and chips on the daily, Air fryer fish and chips? yeah right. Why don't you cook them in beef drippings if it's so good? Exactly.

I have a friend who likes to cook a lot and he has an intense hatred for air fryers and basically goes on a rant about them if someone mentions cooking something that way. Throws a fit about "it's not frying anything it's just baking it!!"

I don't know much about air frying but I believe it's the future

Japan doesn't have gas/electric big appliance ovens like white folx do. They use steam and toaster ovens but I think air fryers are starting to catch on there too.

I could see them being common household items that are built into the home like a microwave

Especially now with so many of the combo units that do other functions.

The one I have can air fry, grill, roast, dehydrate, and bake, all without smoke and the unit itself is the size of a toaster oven. Super easy and convenient to have.

I remember when George Foreman TKOd Joe Frazier on that infamous night, January 22nd 1973. Oh and what a night it was. It was so fun to be ringside for such a monumental game changing moment. I bought his grill immediately after the fight and never looked back.
