A set of good used tires cost me $120 to $200 depending where I go...they last me close to a year.
An alignment costs $100 or so...for an minor alignment problem to shed your tires takes longer than the tires last at a cost near to the cost of a set of tires.
It's one of those scams, along with:
Cabin fil/ter $15 at autozone 2 mins to replace yourself...or pay the shop $80.
Windshield wipers: $6-$20 at Wallyworld, autozone etc, 1 min to change...or pay the shop $40+
Tire rotation: false economy if you are buying used tires
New tires: Used tires the moment you drive out of the tire shop.
Car Air freshener: open the fucking window if you fart.
Scheduled maintenance:
Every time I got to the dealership to get my oil changed they try to up sell me about $900. I went a couple of weeks ago for an oil change and they told me "CRITICAL-NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION - Transmission fluid change". They put this on EVERY time I go and EVERY time I tell they "hey fuck brains, you put a brand new transmission in at 97k miles...it's only on 140k...according to the manual the fluid it good for 100k"...EVERYTIME (well the 140k changes obviously)
They respond "oh the recommendation is just based on milaee it doesn't look at the fact you've got a new transmission"
WELL THEN SAY SO RATHER THAN "CRITICAL - NEEDS ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY"
Mother bitches... -

Plenty of cheapskates get hung up on paying more than the cost of the part, to have the part installed.
And you just said that the first transmission didn't survive to the 100k mile mark that you believe the fluid is good for. Sounds like you might have just debunked you'reself lil bromo. -

Yup.
He must drive like 2 miles a week too if they last 3yrs or 30mph everywhere like an old granny. I do 80-100 miles a day.
The used tires I buy last just about as long as a new set would last me...a year AT BEST...usually around 8-12 months.
Lightly used tires last the same for 1/3 the cost.
Stay dumb girlfriend. -

A decent set of tires will last 40k miles. The average amount driven in the U.S. is 15k per year. I am retired and drive a bit less than average around 12k. However about 6k of that is on my bike. So a decent set of tires on a car will last me 5 years. After 5 years they get changed even if they only have 10k miles. Also I don't sweat pennies the way your broke ass has to. -
