I thought this was also true for employment at least during a labor crisis not having a consistent workforce for something that relies on people seems like it could cause some problems.

It's cheaper for a company to rotate Temps than take on perm employees for unskilled labor. When I worked at compaq my department had around 103 people…97 temps and 6 perm employees…the 6 perms were basically the supervisors and managers.

    You'll have problems regardless.

If you have standardized procedures in your workplace (your own or ISO) then anyone can come in and do the job, that's kind of the point of ISO certification etc (not that you need ISO).

I write the procedures for this place I work at...then we get the stupidest person and tell them "OK build this unit using these procedures" ...if they can't do it I adjust the procedures until the can.

Before covid we used to hire a lot from a company called "Veryable" who provide temp workers from 1hr to 6 months...they are dirt cheap and it's all online service.

I post the job and the wages...I get a ton of applicants in my email, I pick the one I want...he/she starts the next day or whenever I want them to.

Veryable just stick 30% on top of whatever I set...so If I put $15hr we pay veryable $20...no taxes, benefits anything else to do...real simple and if the dude is a twat we get another one the next day etc.

It's very good from the employers perspective as they don't have the financial headache of a perm employee and you don't "owe" them anything...if you don't need them anymore you tell them "bye"...and they are aware that's the situation.

Working is voluntary...they owe you nothing other that what you agreed to when you accepted the job...assuming you ARE doing the job.

Again, if you don't like it start up your own company and stop expecting hand outs.

OSHA does not agree with you.

No they absolutely do not "owe you a living wage" and this is what the demorats are trying to push down everyones throat.
Fast food jobs and the like are for young people who are working toward a job that will provide a living wage or retired people.

Unions are dumb I don't want a living wage and if I'm still here in 10 years I will kill myself

The entire point of society is you get a better job making more money. If you just do the same thing your entire life and cry about MUH LIVING WAGE you deserve to be poor for not learning a skill, continuing education, investing, side hussles, etc

And what even is a pension like a workplace just owes you money for not working there because you worked there for 40 years? The fuck is that. If you don't work you shouldn't be paid just for existing.

Boomers and millenials are so fucking entitled literally every culture and generation is the ME ME ME generation. 99% of people are retards that would die if there was no electricity

I meant in the same job making the same amount of money. That doesn't sound like how you are supposed to progress in a capitalist society like "Hey! I work for the city and will do this FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, Give me more money!" It doesn't work like that. Just because inflation exists doesn't mean an employer owes you anything.

It's called life, I was taught to suck it up and deal with it, not cry to politicians and form a picket line.
If you want more money you should get a degree, learn a trade or something.

I don't understand the mentality that people expect to be paid a competitive rate doing some bullshit job or even a long term career. If you don't make enough money in your chosen career path then you should do something else.

Society cannot afford to pay every person that digs a ditch or flips burgers the same amount as a doctor or lawyer, that's just not the way the world works, sorry. It doesn't matter if it's "fair" or not.
