You have to look at the root cause of it, though. Things are never just black and white. He's only doing that because he disagrees with Lanny's recent behavior. He feels like it's now within his right to spam the entire forum, and when you look at the bad bans, you gotta kind of understand why he's doing what he's doing. Now, if it was just some clown like TheDarkRodent, who got his ass handed to him fairly, but decided to spam up the forums in retaliation for what he rightly deserved, that's a different story. In that case, you could ban no problem and not lose any sleep over it. -

My point is who are you to be the judge of what counts as quality, and who should get banned and who shouldn't. You act like you're some champion of free speech in the fight against website-tyrrany, but the truth that you're too scared to admit even to yourself is that if you were in charge you would be exactly what you accuse Lanny of being, except orders of magnitude worse. -

mmQ, RisiR, Fox Paws: feeding trolls perhaps reveals a fundamental issue with ignore features, good posters will still reply to garbage posts
Anyway, I'm not opposed to an ignore function, although I wouldn't use it. As much as I'd like to rid my life of spectral's endless complaining. There are some subtleties around making an ignore function work with the "last read post" and subscription functionality, I'd have to think about that a bit, but something like zoklet's deal where you just get a block of like "post hidden because you've ignored so and so" where the posts otherwise would be is pretty straightforward to implement. -
