on a projectile spazzing through the air at mach 20+
that is probably painted with a reflective coating that makes it even more difficult to heat -

I don't think detonating nukes is that big of an issue tbf. The explosive lens type nuclear devices require extremely precise timings. The outside layers are usually RDX so heat alone won't blow it up either, if you could get the energy in the first place them it would just burn instead and ruin its ability to detonate and create fission or fusion. -

I actually had/HAVE that video game F19 Stealth fighter on the Amiga...
besides getting the F designation wrong...here is what they *speculated* it looked like...

ETA: btw the game came out 5yrs AFTER the F117 had been flying missions...(not even including the years it was in testing etc)....5yrs operational and the best "guess" at what it looked like wasn't even close...though they got the color right..lolol.
Once it was made public the game company re-release the "updated" game.

Looked cool, but in reality all stealth aircraft have been absolute dogs. But they just can't bring themselves to admit that. And they won't just kit out a commercial aircraft with bomb bays either - not cool enough, not expensive enough, not "military spec". That's why they still fly B52s, an aircraft out of the 1950s, in 2021.

Um no, the F117 was "spectacularly successful" in Gulf war 1.
"While both of the prototypes were destroyed, the Have Blue program was a stunning success. As such, the Air Force decided to go ahead with the development of the follow-on F-117. ... However, the F-117 performed spectacularly well over Iraq during the first Gulf War in 1991." -

When the F117 went up against serbs it didn't do well.

They always go on about how stealth planes have the radar cross section of a duck or whatever, as if that is some sort of camouflage. As if the people America murders and oppresses wouldn't know to shoot down the duck flying along at 37,000 feet at 500 miles per hour. -

Active service from 1983 to 2008 with only 1 aircraft being shot down...that's a pretty good record. -
