I think in court a countersuit usually happens at the same time and counters the amount usually evening it out or the original plaintiff may even owe more than he tried to sue for. -

yea but dont you have to hire a lawyer for that. what if youre poor or dont know the system and show up judge judy style to a hearing without a lawyer to counter sue for you and youre being sued? or cant afford one? how would a layman even know how to countersue without a lawyer present? -
