Nothing I've read, heard or experienced has lead me to believe they are any more intelligent than Americans which is pretty incredible given how different the countries and cultures are.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

2021-11-04 at 2:36 PM UTCAmericans have a real hard time with sarcasm...even when it's blatantly obvious. I've lost track of the number of times I've said something..clearly being sarcastic and they recipient took it seriously.
Example:
When Exwife #2 was being released from hospital early after ODing (Because a Hurricane was coming so they kicked everyone out) I was in her room along with a Nurse who was trying to unhook her IV and other cabling etc and exwife #2 wasn't being particularly cooperative, the nurse kept telling her "Keep still or I can't do it"...I said to the nurse "I can give her a backhander if it will help".
I left to go bring the car to the front of the hospital and the nurse says to exwife #2 "If you are in an abusive relationship I can get you help right now, you don't have to leave with him"
Exwife #2 laughed at her and said "He's joking, if he ever tried it I'd floor him myself"

Hospitals are privately owned here..so not public.
I was unaware of the conversation as I was getting the car as mentioned. I only found out about it when exwife #2 laughed about it after I'd picked her up and driven off...otherwise I would have given the nurse a backhander... -
