2021-10-24 at 3:22 PM UTCi'm too lazy to make the long form post about this so i'll just make a shortform Q&A instead.
Q: why would anyone want anything that shoots 5.7 as an EDC ?
A: because 5.7 punch thru body armors.
Q: at what range do 5.7 ammos punch thru body armors ?
A: at close range.
Q: why would anyone want to shoot anyone's torso at close range instead of their face ?
A: because faces are smaller target than torsos.
Q: which makes them easier to hit .... because
A: they are bad shooters. -
2021-10-24 at 3:47 PM UTC5.7 won't punch through level 3 vests at any range either, speddy just wants to feel special...which he is!!!!

Imagine having a broken back and engaging multiple opponents effectively enough with a cane that four people sought 365 days of protection from the court. One of them still in a cast with pins in his arms 8 weeks later at my hearing and another one who was dropped cold to the floor.
Just imagine, because it is something you could never pull off. -

"I read it on a blog so it must be true". Your "expert" doesn't even realize that the SS190 round he says he used as part of his "test" is not restricted to LE and military. He is repeating an urban legend which arose from the fact that from 1998, when it was introduced the sale of the weapon and all 5.7x28mm was restricted to LE/Military. 6 Years later in 2004 it was released for civilian sale. Your little blogger wrote his op ed in 2013 a full 9 years after wrote;Here are some mean little SS190 rounds. These rounds are restricted for sale to government bodies and law enforcement agencies by FN.
I guess he forgot to remind FN; https://fnamerica.com/ammunition-5-7x28mm/
So forgive me if I go with what I have done and see other do rather that with some blogger who can't even be right about something as simple as what ammo is available. -
2021-10-25 at 12:09 AM UTCSo enough of entertaining the kids. Back to the topic.
I thought since I had just cleaned the M1 I would take a few pictures of it and share them here along with some images of about the least practical weapon I own and my favorite shoutgun.
This is the M1 Garand. The condition of it still amazes me. At $2000.00 I feel like I stole it. Bear in mind found it on Gunbroker last December when the price of anything firearm related was through the ceiling. I saw many others for sale at that time in no where near the condition of this one for just a bit less and one for $500 more that looked like someone wiped Hitler's ass with it.

2021-10-25 at 12:31 AM UTCThis is easily the least practical firearm I own. It is a Heritage Rough Rider single action revolver with a 16 inch barrel which came with one cylinder chambered in .22 LR, and a second one chambered in .22 WMR. It is a "project" gun I bought just for fun.
I purchased a stock and foregrip for it from Salem Lakes Armory;
All just for fun and an interesting project.
Once I have shaped and sanded all the wood to fit my grip and shoulder I am going to "wet" sand the wood with up to 10000 grit and Danish oil. When that is finished there is a guy at a local flea market who does beautiful custom wood burning. I have spoken to him about it and on one side of the stock he is going to burn something close to this;
And on the other side this;

This is pathetic. You are pathetic
M1s are a dime a dozen and not really antiques but that one appears to be in very good shape, especially the stock. 2k seems way overpriced to me, especially for a Winchester, that could just be a few decades old. I can't see anyone paying over 2k for one because of how prevalent and widely used they were. Yours appears to be in great shape so it could be from Vietnam. SWIM is more interested in stuff from the "other side" and had a p38 before that he's still sour about losing. He also has a luger parabellum or whatever with that cool segmented upper receiver action.
I'm not sure what made garands so widely used besides how cheap and durable they are and the caliber, kind of like an AK for someone who can aim. Simple design too I guess although never taken one apart. They might be worth more in the future as I imagine production has ceased and they are a part of history that everyone knows about but I imagine there are millions of them sitting around in people's basements all over the world. -
2021-10-25 at 12:39 AM UTCHoly shit that's kinda cool but why tf would someone make that? The velocity out of that would be ridiculous with .22LR it would probly travel 30km with a good arc

2021-10-25 at 12:41 AM UTCHey speddy what kind of truck do you have? I bet you feel strongly about it. I have two but I'll let you tell me yours first.

2021-10-25 at 12:47 AM UTCNext is my favorite shotgun in the collection. The RIA VR-80 Stormtrooper edition. It is shown with the 19 round magazine. I also have 9 and 5 round magazines for it. Additionally the 5 round mag can be made legal for hunting by removing the bottom cap an inserting the reducing plug it ships with.
I had a Saiga 12 for a while but after buying and firing the VR-80 I realized what a POS it was. The VR-80 has cycled flawlessly for over 2000 rounds so far with a few exceptions during the initial 250 round break in period.
It comes with a threaded barrel and three choke tubes. It is a dramatic rethinking of semi-auto shotguns because it’s an AR first and a shotgun second. The lower receiver is compatible with with most commercial AR-15 buffer tubes, stocks and pistol grips so you can customize it to fit your needs. It will fire up to 3 inch shells and comes with two gas pistons, one for light shot and one for heavy shot.

That seems like a neat project would be cool to see it when it's done. Not sure how I feel about the picatinny, but I get why you might want it (even if you're sacrificing a lot of beauty just to make a gun that'll never really be practical... slightly less impractical).
Also are the picatinny and barrel bands 3D printed? Convenient! But... the aesthetic. 🤮 -
2021-10-25 at 1 AM UTCThe love and care you plan on putting into the wood furniture... it deserves better than to get bubba'd with shitty 3D printed parts.

2021-10-25 at 1:03 AM UTCAre you familiar with the UTASS whatever? 15 round 2 chambers of 7 with a nice one racked. Bullpup design.
That one looks ridiculous though, I feel those clips would rattle and it wouldn't feed well. Fucking interesting. I'm driving rn so can't study those pics super well but it looks like it might be hard to reset laterally due to how thin and light it looks. Probably not much kick. Looks like something 3d printed as well as something can be printed
