that was a part of it, but it's overstated in the west. the primary cause of failure was because the older generation was unable to impart their ideals to the younger generation - the people being groomed for leadership became entranced by consumerism and materialistic western culture and had little problem cutting up the union and selling it for scrap. -

The consumerism wouldn't have mattered if it wasn't for the leagues of jedi "economists" and "experts" like Gaidar going on about how free market reforms would automatically make you wealthy (free market reforms meaning selling off your assets for pennies, allowing your currency to collapse, and deliberately destroying your own institutions). It's OK to be greedy, but when you start taking advice from jedis you are ruined.

For instance see how people like William Kristol started with Trotskyism and now push basically what you see stl1 copy-pasting.
Most of what we think we know about Communism and Left-Right stuff is just stupid lies. Reality is so simple once you are willing to see it. If you want to bring generation into the "equation" one of the biggest reason was the "population wave" disturbance caused by WWII. A picture is worth a thousand words...

i think you have mixed economic theory with government administrative pattern.
communism is an economic theory, how a communist government is administered and run, thats another.
i see no laws or doctrines that say you cant have a democratically elected communist government. or a national socialist one for that matter. -
