    I'm trying to unlearn mask wearing. It is instinctive for me now to pull the cuck-muzzle on when going into shops or going to talk to people.

    As stated earlier..then you have to shave...many a time I go to Aldi on a Sunday and don't bother shaving because of THE MASK...without a mask I'd be obliged to shave as my personal grooming standards would require it.

    I'll give you some layman's science though...
    
    The size of the virus itself isn't really relevant when the virus is spread by MUCH LARGER droplets of coughed up nastiness...
    
    If you hack up a green glob of gunk and spit it into a handkerchief...the handkerchief retains 90%+ of the green menace...along with whatever viruses/bacteria/fungus etc etc is encapsulated in said gunk...
    
    Your handkerchief stopped 90% of said gunk from being transmitted. Mask work the same way...they don't fully stop transmission but they reduce it SIGNIFICANTLY.
    
    That's like 3rd grade science and you really don't need to cough up into a handkerchief to figure that out.
