In olde timey dayz did they conciously put the dirt back on top of a grave knowing it was going to sag or was it simply a case of keeping the area "tidy".

I mean modern burials they don't put the extra dirt on the top, you go visit your dead realtive a few days after the funeral and the grave is level and they've put the sod back on top of it...presumably because it takes decades for a modern coffin to decay so much that it would cause the sag.

Back in cowboy days would they even care though if it sagged up on boot hill?.

In the movie The Martian, there is a scene where he's buried the dead guys and the graves are also humped...but then the body isn't going to decay anytime soon on Mars as there isn't any bacteria...so he basically wasted his time and precious calories piling the extra dirt on top.

There are bacteria in the bodies, some extremophiles. Still, as someone who was calorie counting, he had more important things to worry about. That film is even more shit that I had realised. It was fucking awful.

I'm actually trying to get a boat together on the next few months so that I can do spring fishing I hope to build it myself and just you know make it into a watery tomb that I can meet my demise on so you know if you're making a boat too I hope you're both sinks before mine but I'm going to get on that too it's very cold where I live so I won't be going to my desk until like spring you know what I mean and hopefully you know what I mean it's actually a good bowl I was thinking I was going to take those 50 gallon drums they have and just seal them up cuz I've seen people do that for floating docks and basically just make like a three by five of them and just try to make like a little ski if you know what I mean yeah
