That's the fucking terminology for running the fucking draft. You then roll the lottery to see who gets their A1 card before pussies like you burn it and run away to Canada

President Reagan announced today that he had decided to continue registration of young men for a possible military draft.

In a marked reversal of the position he took in the election campaign, Mr. Reagan said: ''We live in a dangerous world. In the event of a future threat to Text of statement, page B5. national safety, registration could save the United States as much as six weeks in mobilizing emergency manpower.''

    Again,

I had to sign it. He promised to end the registration for the draft when becoming president.
It was ended under president Bill Clinton in 1996 however anyone who was 18 by 1995 and didn't register and has a registration number, you can't get a job for the government. I had to look it up when applying for the USPS last year.

There is no draft in the US. To be drafted is to be conscripted. Here maybe you will believe Wiki

Conscription in the United States, commonly known as the draft, has been employed by the federal government of the United States in six conflicts: the American Revolutionary War, the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The fourth incarnation of the draft came into being in 1940 through the Selective Training and Service Act. It was the country's first peacetime draft. From 1940 until 1973, during both peacetime and periods of conflict, men were drafted to fill vacancies in the United States Armed Forces that could not be filled through voluntary means. Active conscription came to an end in 1973 when the United States Armed Forces moved to an all-volunteer military.

Selective Service registration is not conscription (draft). It is a data base of males who would be eligible to be conscripted (drafted) if conscription (drafting) were to be made law by congress once more (possible military draft).

Just because some numbnuts named Richard Halloran who worked at the laughable NY Times misspoke in writing and called registering under the selective service act a draft does not make the legal requirement to do so a draft (conscription).

    You're really fucking stupid.

This was when civilians were inactive with mandatory military time that ended prior to Vietnam which started up for the war. Elvis Presley got an A1 and had to join the army. That ended and restarted for the war. But Selected Service means you're given an option to request what service branch to choose. It's not a draft but 5he registration for a draft if peacetime ended. By the 1990s, the military ran shitloads of commercial ads to offer college to be half paid for (which existed already but used as a trope to bait people in).

You're using a section in Wikipedia before the military had enough people to fight were still forced to fill gaps as you mentioned. Everyone even after WWII were expected to serve in the military. Even just 2 weeks 1 weekend a month reserves.

I had registered while most did not

Also lebbenon bombing of Marine Barracks 1983 84?

    There was talks again.

I'm kind of happy they have regulations throughout the food growing, handling, manufacturing, etc. process.

Regulations setting up standards for things like tooling, machinery, etc. I find to be a good thing.

Regulations concerning medicines seem to be a good idea.

I could go on but I think I have made my point.

I appreciate that I can go to any auto parts store and get the proper piece for my car because of standardization.
