It was. I was learning 3dmax and this software for premade mesh model objects like cars and trees was used. The palm tree is the same tree. It's fake and was compared. They didn't even bother to edit the axil positioning proofing the trees were just scattered using clone-array. If they had rotated the array to randomization mode it may had not been spotted.
I don't remember details like the software plugin name but it was popular and used for posters for construction of new malls or condos you still see today of what a future site will look like. Which it's interesting that in California, they don't plant indiginous redwoods or even California palms but palms out of Israel or middle east. The palms in this island are middle eastern not tropical -

See how the tree is blowing at 1:03 timeline. Those are real tropical plants and a real video, but the video was used as backdrop . But the ones from the start of the video are ridged and motionless. Those aren't tropical palms but 3d model desert palms. Those and the UFO are "dropped items" , Fectral. That's one way they knew it was fake. Then someone compared the 3d trees to it and they were the same.
Turbosquid and renderocity had shit like this. I think it was creative lab or some other brand. Can't find it now. It's so fucking long ago. -

Did you check how many different kinds of trees there are in Malaysia? They have many different palm trees.
