A lot of the pixies lyrics are biblical references. Theyve got a pretty good understanding of philosophy and mythology. -

In a sense of gnosis, and classical heka/hermetic magic and chaos magic, everyone performs magic rituals regularly on a subconscious level.
Hermes was very christian-like in his beliefs. Early Christians did consciously practice magic, although with evoking demons rather than invoking for example. Not all Christian practitioners of gnostic magic or christian/white magic would work with demons.

It's true I could cut a heart out of a piece of red construction paper and put it on my wall and QMR wuld probably say see I'm subconsciously CUTTING OUT SOMEONES HEART AND DECORATING MY PLACE WITH IT, some sunconscious form of morbid amusement. -

You can separate magic power derived from holy or righeous actions from the power derived from evil actions or rituals.
Some people deny theres a difference. But there is, and the holy seems to be the more powerful one if you compare them honestly. Its a matter of personality. Everyone can gain power through compassion and righteous actions, but those who are Holy are naturally able to utilize it more effectively. This leads to some jealousy and derision
