you should read some Dmitry Orlov if you're interested in that sort of thing; he tracks and compares the collapse of the US against the collapse of the Soviet Union as he lived through it
I don't really like his writing style though -

2021-08-14 at 5:30 PM UTCIF you plugged in all the data into the best computer in the world and said "okay we are reducing X and X emissions, how long will it take for everything to be fixed?"
The computer would say "ERROR! PLANET IN CRITICAL DANGER! BUILD A TIME MACHINE BECAUSE NOTHING YOU DO WILL FIX WHAT YOU ALREADY STARTED LONG AGO!"
and people would just bang on the monitor a few times and say "It's obviously broken, we need more data" it's always gonna say that which is why they don't do it. The feedback loops feed each other already so even if we all stopped using cars and electricity right now the world would still go to shit in 100 years. -

the computer will just say nature will fix this by growing more trees and grasses to balance the imbalances. -

good luck fixing this lol maybe in 10 million years that 50 trillion gallons of heavy metal bromine water will turn back into rocks but it sure isn't gonna be the same rocks we pulled up.
They are gonna have to invent new names for the plastic circuit board chip wood tar ore they dig up in millions of years, if anything is still alive that is.
