in terms of this thread? you post about these cataclysmic scenarios becuse you're bored and disaffected and want something to change, but you're careful to only really think about the ones where there's nobody directly at fault. things like mass deaths related to war, state policy or religious eschatology are more difficult because those cases challenge the foundational belief that people are inherently good -

Yes, yes this is what I've been asking for. I knew you had it in you. And I think that's fairly accurate ... except I don't believe people are inherently good. Maybe I'm lying to myself about that, maybe you see something in me that I cannot, but I am very paranoid about other people. I have a very small circle of people I consider close to me, and I have real trouble trusting them too. Good and evil aren't opposing forces at war with each other, but are mutually interdependent concepts we apply to people, and everyone has within them the potential for both. I do wish people were more genuine, and I believe that would make the world better imo, but being genuine is not necessarily being good. Is that all you can see? There is nothing more? Be genuine, open your mind, tell me if there is anything else. Thank you. -

2021-08-12 at 9:36 PM UTCI didn't put too much thought into it but I have seen enough of your posts over the years to get a general feel.
I'm not sure 'inherently good' is the best way to describe what I meant, a better way of phrasing it would probably be that people are 'generally good' or that you lean toward being optimistic in that regard. as an example, that people who engage in things like extreme depravity or senseless violence are different from most, and you don't like to think about the sort of things people are capable of if pushed.

why are you interested in what I think? I only wrote a bit about the topic of the thread because I don't really know what you want me to tell you -

Not thinking about it too much probably helped. I encourage you to continue that. You got this.
You are right, I don't like to think about the horrible things people are capable of. But I don't think that means I am being optimistic in regards to other people; wouldn't I be more open and less paranoid if that were the case? I think a lot of the time people are fakes, insincere, not genuine.
I think you see the world in an interesting way, and I want to see it too. There is something about you that makes you this way. I don't know if you were born with it, or if something happened to you in the past, but you have an ability to see things clearly, or at least clearer than most. Tell me what it is. Why are you the way you are? -
