HARDD.
we shall see, it is only a temporary trend in my eyes. the percentage of minorities in america today is not unprecedented, we had a higher share of blacks before. when the backlash to globalization is in full swing, minorities will be pushed back out. -

2021-06-13 at 11:03 PM UTCI never said the former soivet states are doing better. 'Neighour' is not the same thing as immediate 'neighour'. Russia is pretty huge.
Russia is poorer than western and central europe, and always has been. Even Poland makes Russia look like a third world country now, not to mention the Baltics. Fun-fact, the formerly Russian administered part of Poland remains poorer than the German administered part to this day.
And how many states to the east of russia, that used to be third world shitholes, are now wealthier? Singapore/Taiwan/Japan/South Korea at the least. Malaysia is rapidly catching up as well, and maybe even fucking China.
My money is on laziness. Misguided Russia was too lazy to look past the last 30 years of history. Try using your "it's Americas fault" theory to explain the last 300. -

I can think of a few 'oligarchs' in the west that need to 'disappear' -

Originally posted by rabbitweed Why has Russia been so poor for so long? Whether under the Tsars, Communists, or Capitalist Democracy - Russia continues to be much poorer than it's western neighbours (and at this point a few of their eastern ones)
Russia has a lot of famous scientists, intellectuals, musicians etc. So the problem isn't cognitive ability.
I can only assume it's due to laziness. They must be work-shy and feckless. Star Trek wat u fink?
I'm tempted to say 'the J'ews' but I think the crux of it is that is an actual multicultural state - Siberians, Chechens, Dagestanis, Russians etc are not the same people, ethnically or culturally. They've had to deal with the problems countries like the US have been facing for the last 50 years ago for... centuries -

America has been dealing with multiple cultures for the entirety of its existence. What? English, Dutch, Natives, French, Spanish, Irish, Italians, Polaks... as time went on they just got more and more cultures. -

you're going to argue that different groups of white christian Europeans are just as volitile as long-entrenched Eurasians with completely different religions and value systems? have a look into how the Chechen mafias took over the Russian 'underworld' through the 90s, it's a pretty good allegory for race relations over there in general -

Definitely arguing that. See: Ireland. They're all Christians and from the same fucking country! Hasn't stopped conflict remotely. Protestant v Catholic is a significant enough religious difference to drive centuries of violence. England and Ireland - two islands separated by like 20km of water - have been up in each other's shit for longer than Russia has existed. Why the fuck would the fact that English and Dutch people share some surface level commonalities change anything? "White Christian European" is not a culture or ethnicity. America has always been multicultural. I'm also willing to argue that this is not the root cause because I know the true cause of Russian suffering - the winter, the cold, and the darkness. Humans were simply not meant to live there. It's not "multiculturalism". It's year-round seasonal depression. -
2021-06-14 at 6:38 AM UTCNot to mention, you know, slavery... and the slaves being freed 150 years ago. No, no, you're totally right - American multiculturalism is an entirely new phenomenon that's only reeeeeally been a thing since the 1970s.
If anything, Russia has never dealt with multiculturalism as disparate as America's. -

poland and the baltics are poorer today than they were before the soviet breakup, despite the billions of welfare they get from uncle sam. -

Because that happened a long time ago compared to a lot of places on earth.
A long time ago, but more specifically, longer than "the last 50 years". To demonstrate the historical multicultural challenges faced by America. A huge chunk of US history is literally just the tireless struggles surrounding how/whether it was even possible to successfully integrate an entire culture of African former slaves.
The entirety of US history is just a struggle to develop any kind of cohesive culture in a new world whose inhabitants came from fucking everywhere. Acting like the US has only been dealing with multiculturalism for the last "50 years" is fucking silly. Like, aldra out here on the retard juice claiming The Beatles released The White Album half a decade before the US had its first real challenges involving multiculturalism. The fuckkk? -

russia was never "poor" during tsarist times because those "poor" condition were the norm back in those days in every agrarian societies.
it only started to lag behind after the bolshevicks eliminated their 10%ers, those who were smart and educated. -
