Knife advice

So I am looking into buying a good quality everyday knife that won't break the bank. I know some members here (aldra) are enthusiasts and will probably have some advice. What are the pros and cons of a fixed blade versus a folding blade? Would it really make much of a difference to the average Joe?

    Show me some good blades.

what do you want to use it for/how much are you looking to spend?

fixed blade is always more practical, just takes up more space and is more threatening

What do you need it for? I would say get a multi tool unless you need it strictly for self defense or something.

Just as a tool for cutting stuff. I use a folding knife for work, it's like a hookshape, heard it called a sheep foots blade before but don't know if that's correct. But I like that style of blade, want something similar for outside of work but want to consider various options.

The one I have is pretty tiny, has scissors instead of pliers. Which model do you like?

This one is a fixed blade, seen similar ones that fold.

Timothy S. Leatherman is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Leatherman Tool Group, Inc.. Leatherman graduated from Oregon State University in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.[1] According to an article in The Oregonian, "Leatherman came up with the idea of a 'Boy Scout knife with pliers' during a 1975 driving tour of Europe with his wife, when he was unable to use his pocket knife to fix his repeatedly malfunctioning car."

MUT is pretty much only worthwhile for rifle maintenance, I have a Wave. their newish magnetic tools are nice but you pay a lot more for less

i can do you more damage to you with my non-tactical, non-combat, non-milotary, non-ballistic foldable shaving knife than you can to me with your tactical, combatt, military, ballistic folding knives.
