I heard 5 idiotic women talk about their feelings and personal experiences in my provinces legislature today. One started strong with some stats then devolved into cultural inferences. At least it got some time and someone is making the case but it's the people with the least persuasiveness and perspective. How hard is it to find some comparative case studies in cities and shoe a definitive lack of correlation between crime rates and the ballooning pig budget?
Beyond the obvious ideological arguments activist Amy types make why are there no fiscallally conservative libertarians making this argument? Why are there no real men saying our communities are better off without a couple of holier than thou Stanford prison experiments gone wrong rolling through with annoying colored vehicles to harass people who are minding their own business and dealing with disputes that can be solved locally between private citizens? Why are there no PHD sociologists or some other limp wristed branch of hackademia making the case that social order can be maintained without state surveillance and control over minutae? Why aren't there any ambitious counselors or city pplanners who want to show another allocation or redistribution of pig resources in different areas can save money that can be put towards something else that's more worthwhile to the constituent?
Because of legitimacy. If the bag men and face of the states authority doesn't have power, people feel nothing does. This is not real legitimacy. You rule by respect, not fear if you are a legitimate authority.

Articles like this are more compelling and use statistics and graphs and factual arguments with data to show what's beneficial about defunding police agencies.
This annual report (from 2014 but just as an example) contains regional crime rates and can be cross referenced with police budgets to show the lack of correlation between budgets and crime
