Pretty much...I think here your money is good forever yes? If you have a $1 from 1902 it's still usable? Not in the UK...they change the money out relatively "regularly" and the old ones are not useable after a certain amount of time.

I think it was like 2yrs between my trips where my money became worthless so the change over is pretty quick...relatively.

Pay $1000 cash or pay on credit?, pay on credit and settle it up immediately and get 2-5% back or points you can cash in...only the stupid and financially dumb pay with cash.

Holy fuck do you really believe you're 'exploiting' the banks because... lol. Do you think interest is what they care about? Really? Lmao. Woooooh my cashback!!! If the bank pamphlet says its a good deal then it must be!

"What is a credit card deposit?
A secured credit card is backed by a cash deposit you make when you open the account. The deposit is usually equal to your credit limit, so if you deposit $200, you'll have a $200 limit. The deposit reduces the risk to the credit card issuer: If you don't pay your bill, the issuer can take the money from your deposit."

a prepaid is a dot card. you're talking about a trust card (or whatever they were called when I worked in credit card sells)

you put down 200 and get a 500 dollar limit if you have 0 or shit credit. yes, you build FICO up on it. and it has your name printed on it.

People who dont have legal documents to live in a country will often get a green dot card and use that. the only draw back is you can't rent a car or a hotel with it. unless you find a crappy Motel that will hold 200 dollars as a reserve in case you steal the towels and robe and TV because you're a crackhead. I think greendots were used before crypto for darkweb activity as well. you can buy a green dot without ID and also people use them to buy burner phones

Of course I worked there decades ago. terminology and money exchange has since changed. BTW Bitcoin took a 17% dump yesterday

Well duh lets do the math shall we...

    Credit card, no annual fee.
I buy a new computer for $1500, on my credit card and pay it off 2 weeks later
    I earn 5% cash back
So for the computer I effectively pay $1425 and the credit card company pays $75...also having the protection that credit card purchases offer should I have any issues with the purchase.

I make $75 off the jedis and potentially more if I have problems with the product.

The jedis made nothing off me.

This is why you still live with mom and have a pre-paid $250 card.

Yeah... wow. That's not what I was saying at all.

That you think $75 is a win shows you are financially illiterate.

If it were 'exploiting them' they wouldn't offer it. They're making FAR more by holding and investing your money than you are 'making' by spending it. They're eating a jumbo slice of pizza and throwing the crust to their dog, you.

If you want to exploit the banks you ponzi scheme them with loans and 'restructure your debt' like billionaires do.

I only use credit cards now for the cash back reward. I get things like 50 dollar Amazon gift cards or Best Buy or Chipoltle gift cards as use them or even have given Amazon 50 or 25 dollar gift cards as Christmas gifts at the end of the year. also the other credit card I use gives real money back into the bank account. some are 2 cents to the dollar and some 5 cents to the dollar but only on things you chose. like gas for the car (great for uber or taxi drivers) will get you as much as 5 cents for every dollar. so in a month you could have avout 60 bucks you can put back into the account. but it also works for Fico repair because everytime you buy something, you just go onto the phone and pay the credit card off from your banking account. its like 1-2 points a week added to the FICO for doing this just by observing. Never make one late payment on anything. Car or House or whatever. always have it schedual for auto pay 4-5 days prior to the due date.

thats funny, I was posting the same benefits. Getting cash back is actually pretty cool since you never got it 30 years ago. but then again, you used to get like 6-7% interest rates on your money like 40 years ago and now you're lucky to find 1% a year.

the CD is pretty good at 3% if you lock in money for 5 years that you cant touch but you can only put so much in a CD. it has a limit I believe. or an IRA which I know nothing about. not sure how much that pays back.

but using a credit card for convienance and then getting a credit for 60-80 bucks a month isn't anything to turn your nose up at. its also kind of like a surprize. you dont bother looking at it for a month and then click the "you have cash back reward button" and see how much you accumalated that month is that child like feeling of Oooooohh score.

    Non sequitur.

The credit card division (which is what we are discussing here) are not holding my money...They don't have my money, they never have my money...I have theirs...which I then pay back to them with a 5% discount.

I'm holding THEIR money..that's what credit is

And yes they would offer it because for every person like me making money out of them...there are 100,000 like you who they can exploit and who end up paying $$$$ in interest to them.

Exactly...and again the protection/money back guarantee etc which I've used successfully several times.

    100% on time payments
Lots of transaction history (I use my cards for pretty much anything over $100 I spend...often below that too).
low recurring credit balance (paying it off straight away)
24yrs credit history (how long I've been in US)
    Obviously no negative remarks/comments

Basically just doing what you agree to when you sign up for a credit card/loan etc.

ETA: That's also with about 6 Identity theft incidents too that I had to "fix".
