(Like I used to get back in the bad old days of 9600 dialup)
i actually remember all that and im younger than most milenials. while i dont miss the slow speed, i do miss the absence of abundance of garbage and spam because the little resources we had were cherished and maximized to get the best we could out of it. any time i connected to the net on dialup, i had to make every minute count which means any material i downloaded was awesome by default. theres no thrill of the hunt anymore because everything is abundant and easy to get with a few clicks.
but you know what, i dont project my disillusioned bullshit onto kids today, nor do i ever assume that they dont know what fun is, even if i do think exactly that. in fact, i had a conversation with a little kid on the street recently while waiting for a store to open, we discussed social media and how it was only starting to be a thing when i was his age, how we had flip phones while he has essentially a computer in his pocket. i told him "this is your world now, take good care of it"
if i was a boomer, i would be bragging about how my generation created his smartphone, how spoiled he is for not having to suffer with dialup and how ungrateful he is for liking different literature or having different hobbies than mine.
